Pebbly Beach - Yuraygir NP

Family holiday to Pebbly beach in late April was a little damp to say the least.
Arrived on Sunday the 22nd to gorgeous weather & an almost totally deserted campground. We were the only ones there apart from the ranger. Crossed at low tide mid morning after traveling from Corindi Beach. The road in was good but beware of really deep potholes easily missed due to rain the night before.
Prado Altitude had 70Klms on it when we hooked the camper up for this trip. The night before we left from Maitland was spent installing the brake controller, Charge lead, fridge hot wire & roof basket.

Crossing over was no worries, even though my snorkel that was to be fitted by the dealer was sitting in the box in my garage. One thing i did discover very quickly was the reaction of salt water with electrical connections. Upon crossing, all my trailer lights were lit up & my trailer plug was fizzing green.
I obviously should have water proof sprayed it prior to crossing, but missed it in the rush of getting away. Nothing a little woolworths cooking spray and a toothbrush didnt fix.

All set up in the HUGE camp sites at Pebbly Beach.
Cant speak highly enough of the ranger. Plenty of fire wood, clean amenities & gave me an awesome snapper to cook when my fishing skills proved inadequate.

One thing to be cautious about is the wildlife. Dont leave any garbage bags around as they will attract some huge goannas.
The kids loved looking at these guys after their initial fright. A quick explanation to the kids to keep their distance & do not approach saw the initial fear allayed.

Some wild weather followed & we were the only ones there. The low tide crossing never fell below mid tide & the surf was pumping.
We stayed for 4 nights at Pebbly. Had wet weather for 3 days. Still had an awesome time, but caught no fish.

Water had dropped to near low tide when we left. Still a bit deep considering i had no snorkel, but did the wade & measure & took it easy. Snorkel now fitted.

The inland lake busted through the dune near the exit from the beach.
Being the only ones there, we were a little worried, but had no real troubled getting though. Tow bar hung up as well as the rear of the van, but no damage done.
Really tight between the bollards on the trail back to the gravel.

Yes, the ranger is a top bloke. We camped for a few days late last year and had a ball. Drove in a bit fast when crossing the river for the first time and had water wash up onto the windscreen, down the vents and all through the carpet. Did a better job coming home though. Probably my favourite camp site.

Thanks for the heads up,looks like a nice place. I didn't know that the crossing to get in was sea water though.
