    ORS False Floor Install

Removed 3rd row seats and installed ORS (Offroad Systems) 3rd Row false floor.

Got to say my experience with ORS was fantastic, I asked allot of questions before purchase and got quick responses. Once I put the order in they gave me an invoice with delivery date, floor turned up 1 day after expect delivery date. Fantastic.

    So..... for the install.....

    Firstly what did I get?
    - Floor in two pieces - Left and right
    - "Cross Member" and "Spacers"
    - Screws and spikes for marking floor during install

      ORS Continue......
Worth noting, it says you may need to trim the carpet, but no need to as you can just fold it over....see below.

It is a very tight fit, so the best method to install is to raise both the left and right pieces in the middle then push them down....
Make sure you have then in a good position before you push down onto the spikes to mark the wood for drilling....see below.

NOTE: The Spikes are to long for the cross member section as they foul on the Prado frame, so you will need to shorten them before fitting the base for marking...

Very happy with product and Overall experience with ORS....

      Couple of Notes..

      1. Instructions could be better, but anyone with half a brain can work it out. I will be providing feedback for them...
      2. Definitely take their advice in the instruction and use smaller pilot holes first, the wood is "sensitive"
      3. Position twice, drill once.
      4. Note to brain: Steel is hot once you finish hack-sawing...give it some time..
      5. When screwing in for permanent fitment don't screw to tight, wood is soft....Washers may help.

This will be a good base for other home made items...E.G. Drawers or Fridge Slide! there is a good gap between the base and prado floor for mounting bolts.

Next Up, Home made fridge slide!

      Bernie.

Thanks for the write up Bernie! I am buying this kit very soon before my trip in April and can't decide whether or not to have ORS install it for me (Only $75 fee). Is it worth paying them to install it? I am NOT handy on the tools and don't have anything to cut down the spikes, can you get away it?

Does this eliminate all the seat rattles in the rear, i hope so

Keep us posted on the slide

          Hi VXCruier,

If the $75 includes removing the rear seats then that is a good deal in my opinion.

I would not risk leaving the spikes long during fitting as you may get the hole positions wrong, so yes I consider it a must.
As for rattles, the unit fits in really tight. There is no rattle or noise, until is a very good fit.

I would look at asking them to put washers in with the screws to help hold it down (black ones would be nice), this is something I will do in the near future.

I was thinking about making my own rear floor, after looking at this ORS kit there is no way I could have done the job as good.

Can see where the expense is with the unit....

          Bernie

Went for a quick drive and noticed the following difference

                (In my non technical speak)

Body roll I believe is the same, however there is immediate and consistent resistance to the roll where previously the roll would be more prominent at the start then restriction kicks in. This give the impression / feel that the car is a bit tighter in the corners.
Interestingly there was no tension (or load) on the rear swaybar at all when I removed the original equipment, when install the new ones (adjusted) I had to "load up" the swaybar to fit.

To install the front assy, I had to raise the front of the car to take pressure off the swaybar. Once this was done it was straight forward.

                regards

                Bernie.

                  Hey Bernie,

I like the sway bar kit, since my suspension upgrade went in its something I've thought needs doing.

Can I ask what the kit ended up costing?
                  Geoff

Im not Bogged - I've just lost traction. . . . . and now I'm showing the wife why I bought those Maxtrax, and the tyre deflator, and the compressor, and the bullbar, and the winch, and a lot of other goodies I've hidden in the Prado

Looks good. I haven't seen the front sway bar relocation fittings before. I think they will go onto my wish list.
We are going up to the Deep Creek tracks on the 1st July. I have only done Deep Creek No4 before. Any tips or areas to stay away from?

                          Hi Smakb,

My advice would be to take every piece of recovery gear you have just in case, I do not think I would do it in the wet (after rain) however I think it would be "do'able" (more rocky and no water sitting around due to steepness).
I would just be worried about sliding off the track on the way up or down with it wet.

See my trip report for some videos (it was steep!)
                          http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-report-Videos

Thing is, the track can change so quickly (as I notice with the last trip), so anything I say about the track may be completely different it 1 weeks time.

It will be fun, I give you that so go for it! And as I remind myself before heading offload....... [B]Bernard, you've got all day, so take your time and think first then act!.

I am heading back up to Rawson in ~ 3 weeks, make sure you put up a trip report as I might give some other deep creeks a go. (Only done the others on a dirt bike).

                          Bernie.

                                Hi VXCruier,

The prado feels tighter and more controlled in the corners. I still believe the body roll is still similar however Anti-Roll "kick in" comes on quicker where there was a lag previously while the tension is taken up on the anti-roll bar.

                                Subtle but good outcome.
