Lippa from what I have heard the 150 from 2012 on had the new coated seals.

    • Hi guys I am thinking I am in same boat with my prado at the moment about to do the injector seals I will head to Toyota tomorrow for the parts,
I am right in saying I only require the 4x new ally seals? Is there anything else I should be changing on the injector while am in there?

      Cheers Steve

      • Hi Guys, has anyone got any ideas/comments, as to the best aftermarket Injectors (ie Denso, Baileys etc) to be used to replace the original injectors if they need replacing, it's hard to separate the hype from the fact and it's such a big job I'd like to do it right or can they be re-built to a standard that they are as good as new. • Some facts from what I have found specialising in PRADO injectors

Of corse my opinion from my experience:

The old copper seats that Were a massive PROBLEM changed to alloy coated I think in 01/2008
If they are found in later models, it's very uncommon & some fool has made a big boo boo.
If you own an early d4d Prado 2007 if you have not replaced your injectors & seats by now, you are crazy!!!!!!!!!

Your injectors usually do not get removed even if they do physical valve clearance.
          But they should.
I would suggest you leave it alone & sealed up UNTILL 120k when you should be putting a new set of DENSO injectors.

If you have DLC they will last longer.

The baileys injectors are rebuilt injectors not new.

As far as I am aware Baileys haven't released their rebuilt injectors for the 150 yet, so I would say genuine Denso would be your only realistic option at this point in time.

I do agree that it's very hard to sort fact from hype on this subject, welcome to an Internet forum

            Cheers Andrew

              • Hi,
I just thought i would post about 150 injectors.

Recently i started with the injectors rattles and after testing 2 were out of spec. -4.1 was the worst.
Baileys are 6-8 months away from DLC 150 injectors so the only option was new.

After ringing around i ordered a set from ############# which arrived next day in Adelaide. Big thanks to #### for his advice and service and price on a set of 4 brand new Denso injectors.

Mine is a Nov 2009 with 150000 on the clock. Never been opened up by the look of it ( blue paint seals still in tact) - i dont have any history before i bought it at the begining of the year.

The old injectors came out ok with no leaking evident ( it had alloy coated seals) and a quick look into the cylinders-- pistons looked fine.

I also checked the valve clearances and they were all within spec, much to my relief.

After re assembly and torquing all the bolts and pipes as per toyota specs time to get the laptop connected.

All the new codes were entered and then i did the pilot learning via techstream.

Runs so much better and no rattle.

                Thanks again to #############

I will fit a catch tank next week to keep things clean. (it wasn't bad considering the kms)

I hope they last another 150000 but might change them before -4.1 next time.

                cheers
                Mike

                • What do you mean by Pilot Learning?

Is there another step to be done after entering the injector codes?

                  • Hi,
pilot learning is in the utility section of techstream.

I think it just fine tunes the ecu to the new injectors.

Once the engine is warm then go into pilot learn. It checks a few parameters then goes into learning mode . You then have to rev to over 3000 rpm and back to idle 10 to 15 times until the screen changes and tells you turn ignition off for 10 seconds. Then restart.

not sure how critical this is, never seen it discussed here, but its there to do . Maybe one of the experts could add more..

                    might be just a 150 thing....☺

                    • Must be a 150 thing. It didn't come up when I tried this afternoon. Injector coding and SCV initialisation are the only fuel system options that come up. There's a few other options but unrelated.

                      • It is a 150 thing!
It must be done with new injectors.

Happy to help out, that's what I do.

                        Cheers,

If you have BDG brass sheets fitted, the ones that came installed on the BDG injectors, imo you have a few options.

Must Check oil pickup every oil change 5000k preferred or
                            Replace sheets with genuine or
Check oil pick up till 40,000k, replace with genuine sheets at valve clearance check.
Probably other options, but trying to keep it simple.

They were supposed to be coated copper not brass. Brass cannot squash/flex & seal like copper will.

I hope Matt Bailey has some input here.
