  • YOUI Insurance BE WARY ABOUT COVERAGE

    Got a call from that YOUI insurance mob and what a friggin nightmare they are, Million questions didnt make any sense what so ever, 2 days at 40 mins per call (I kid you not) and in the end told them to jam it. One question I asked was am I covered for say a river crossing and if it goes belly up am I covered ?? All they kept saying was I was insured upto wading depth, I said I drive through bigger pot holes then that, this went on for 5 minutes. Am I covered on the beach lets say Stockton ?? Um if its a road on a map, WTF, I said no its a beach, like Fraser Island, if its a dedicated road !!! Its not a road its a beach up in QLD, Where will it be garaged ?? At my house, I just gave you the address (pissed by this time ) behind gates, in a locked garage/carport ?? Depends some times its the garage somtimes the carport depending who gets home first between my wife or I, So which will it be ?? could be either, Well I need to know to give you a price ?? just told you if the carport is dearer then base it on that, Does it have door on it ?? Are you for #&%*ing for real, No its a carport, no gate, no roller door, its attached to my locked garage, so it has a door for the garage and carport ?? OMFG by this time Im actually laughing on loud speaker for wife to hear......... Who drives the vehicle ?? my wife and I. Who drives it most ?? Does it matter, me. Ages blah blah, So this will only be the 2 drivers ?? yes unless there may be an emergency if my wife or I couldnt drive it for some reason. So who would drive it then ?? If its any emergency I couldnt really give a rats arse whos driving it. Well we need to know to insure that person ?? It could be fu#&ing santa for all I give a shit, if its an emergency I dont CARE whos driving it. We'll sir they wont be insured ?? What even if there say over 25/30/50/70 of age. NO. No one else will be allowed to drive the vehicle and be covered. So say I go to the pup/club with my mate, I decide to have a drink and then have one to many ( I hardly drink anyway just thought Id throw the question in) my mate is sober and is over 40 and he drives my car to get me home and has a prang hes at fault, Im not covered ?? No sir only the nominated drivers will ever be covered, any body else driving will have no coverage what so ever.........In that case dont bother me by ringing me again......................................80 minutes of my life Ill never get back talking to them dickheads..................Cheers Steve

    I hear you, buddy. YOUI's marketing never made sense to me. "They ask you more questions to find out how you use and don't use your car to save you money." WTF??? Okay, so let's be realistic about their claim. The more questions they ask you is going to reveal the fact that they should charge you more and more. Do you drive your car during peak hour?.... Fail! Do you drive your car on Friday afternoons?.... Fail! Have you ever parked your car in a shopping centre carpark?.... Fail! Have you ever left your car unnatended at a train station?.... Fail! Do you drive at night at all?.... Fail! Do you participate in conversations with passengers in your vehicle?.... Fail! Have you ever comsumed a liquid while driving, eg a softdrink?.... Fail! Have you ever left the key in the ignition of your car/left the car unlocked while paying for fuel at the servo?.... Fail!

    Their whole concept is a stupid gimmick. So they ask you a million questions and yet still be competitive in price to most of the other insurers anyway??? Once again, WTF?

    Word of warning, steer clear and I mean completely clear of Budget Direct. I left NRMA who I held a comprehensive insurance policy with for 15 years and only made 2 claims in that time, after a falling out over a repair issue and Budget Direct (BD) promised the world. So I went with them. They told me over the phone and it was also in their commercials every add break, that they'll beat my current policy by 10%. On the phone when I called for a price, they told me if I email a copy of my current no claim discount policy to them within 14 days of starting my insurance policy they'll either match my current insurance rate or beat it by 10%. I emailed the no claim discount policy form to them to the email address they told me to within 10 days and left it at that. I then noticed in my bank statement 2 months later that they were charging $84/month as opposed to my NRMA rate of $75/month. So I called them and they told me that because my insurance policy with them had begun that there as nothing they could do. They even verified with me that they did receive my email during this phone call. So that's was their get-out clause for not having to reduce their rate. Since then I got ran into by some moron who was tail gating me for a km before running into my rear bumper. I reported it to BD who then told me to go to any repairer of my choice and get the quote sent to them so they can authorize the repairs. I thought great NRMA will only allow their "cheapest" repairers who look after NRMA's interests repair your car. I took my car to one smash repairs place only (the first pic midway down on the internet drop down list), they took pictures and documented the damage and said they'll be in contact. They called me a few days later to apologize that BD wouldn't allow them to do the repairs because they were too expensive. I saw red. The repairer apologized over and over and just said BD want it done cheaper than they afford to do it. Their hourly rate was $35/hr, and BD will only pay $24/hr for repair work even if the accident wasn't my fault. I won't go into the rest because my phone call with a BD manager after this infuriated me. I'm pulling my policy from them as soon as the year is up to the day. I wish I never phoned them for a price in the beginning to be honest. Any other insurer has got to be better than this.

      for those of you who are looking at the really cheap insurers , you really will get what you pay for . i have a mate who is an insurance assessor with no affiliation to any particular company any has been in the business for many many years . he warned me about some of these mobs which are known in the business as the 40%centers as they pay out about 40% of claims .if you do not dot your i's and cross every t and are not extraordinarily specific with all your mods or extras or where you want to go with your vehicle or who's going to drive it , you may get bent over and shafted . remember , insurance is not about risk to the insurer anymore , its about how much they can screw out of you , and how they can avoid paying out . ( yes thats right i am an avid insurance company hater ) after you've been crushed by an insurance company a few times , you tend to dislike and distrust them . cheers

        Hey Brett, you can stop it at any time you like, if you pay by the month, then they must cover you till the next payment would have been due, and if it was a 12 month payment, they refund you the remainder of the cover.

          Nice! I was told by people I have to honour my insurance policy for the rest of the year or I'll have to pay the rest of the year out. I never looked into it to find out if it was true. I'll cancel it with them once I get my car fixed if that's the case. Thanks for that, croozza.

              Below is a statement direct from an insurance companies terms of policy. I think you would be hard pressed to find a company that didn't have this in there fine print.

              when your car is being used in a manner or under conditions that are inappropriate for the type
              of car, or which are outside the manufacturer’s specifications or recommendations;

              Any insurance company would be well within there rights not to pay up if damage was the result of using your vehicle outside the manufactures recommendations eg wading depth.

                  I have heard of some people going through the pain of the inquisition with YOUi and then being told the premium which came out at more than twice NRMA / RACQ etc. They all practice cost minimisation especially if the two cars are insured by the same company as I have found out myself recently. Repair quote approved and on pick up discovered bits I thought to be replaced were actually repaired or just reinstalled. No big deal but I was expecting to get new rear sensors and they weren't replaced and one that was damaged in the Liberace event no longer worked. One new sensor fixed it but I had to return the Prado again for replacement.

                    Still with NRMA (must be about 40 years now) and so far, no problems. I only have to tell them the extras on the vehicle, amount, and keep the receipts.

                      Yeah Yowie, Im the same. They rang me, have no intentions of changing And must say I have checked other big companys and NRMA always the best and I may be wrong but I think if their is a bit of loyalty making a claim would possibly be easier going. Touch wood never made a claim in all this time.......Cheers Steve

                        I have been with NRMA since I started driving but had a recent policy renewal sent that was nearly $30 a month more than previous! Might have to look at other options as budget idirect are $50 month cheaper
