    Hi,
    Finally got round to starting the transformation of my newly aquired standard 120! She's a 2008 D-4D 6 speed with 100k on the clock. Just spent the past few days dropping all the oils from the engine, diffs, tranny and transfer. Also fitted my new UHF and started putting together the car tool kit

    Well thought id take advantage of the ANZAC holiday and sort the headlight upgrade to Narva H4 globes, pressure clean the under carriage and fish oil/ paint to provide some rust protection. Also found some old spotties off my old D40 Navara. Will look at a HID upgrade and whack them on when I sort the new winch bar out. Adjusted the hand brake and tidied up the wheel arches with another coat of paint. While I wait for the ute to sell (hopefully this weekend) ive been pulling things apart and cleaning up bits and pieces before adding the rest.

    new UHF works a treat, get great range on the new arial even though its not mounted where it should atm. Bar work all round with dual wheel carriers and roof rack are next on the list. Standard ARB bar and all the new tyres will be up for sale also.

        Found a Milford cargo barrier on Gumtree. Was down the road for $100 bucks so thought id pick it up. Will have to get the mounting kit tomorrow as it seems it isnt a "bolt it in anywhere" type of system.

        Righto. On a second look in the back I noticed some bolt holes in the side plastics. Also looked under the carpet and found some more. So I slid the barrier in, found some bolts in the shed and now its all fitted up like a glove.

            Hi Dueler120

            Can I ask which battery you have used as your Second Battery and how many a/h it is.

            Thanks

              Looking good mate. That cargo barrier was a good buy. You're living in one of the best places in oz to have a 4wd which gives you a great reason to deck it out with lots of gear that you will actually use. Lived in Broome many years ago. Still miss it.
              Good luck with the build. Enjoy!

                  Thanks Caffeine,
                  Yeah mate Broome is a great place. Only just moved up and the the SS ute i have back in Perth just wont cut it up there. Really looking forward to taking the Prado everywhere through the Kimberley. Plus it does give you more leverage with the other half to deck it out good and proper.

                  Cheers

                    Ok a few more things done today;
                    Picked the car up from her new Octaine tint job this morning. Makes it look 100% better than when i dropped her off

                    Extended the rear diff breather next to the front one. I will change out the front diff filter when I can find another one! Had to go to three different hardware stores to find the right size barb that fits into the diff housing.

                    Also picked up a car alarm system from Jaycar for $99. The guy at the counter asked if I had installed these before myself and looked at me strange when I said id give it a go. When I got it home I realised what i had got myself into. Should be pretty straight forward once I can determine what loom to hook into???

                      Another tranny oil change this morning. Dropped the multitrax and replaced with castrol syntac 75w-90 to try and improve the third gear changes.

                        Looking good Dueler, did you end up finding another diff breather filter? like the one in your photo., I've been looking everywhere for them with no luck, keen to do my rear diff, transfer and gearbox.
                        Cheers.

                            G'day,
                            Sorry for any late replies, been away with work etc etc etc.....

                            Jika;
                            Piranha do a diff breather kit with these filters. This is the kit I used but otherwise I dont know where you might get them individually. I know Supercheap have small pod filters that do the same job. Allot of the hoses and brass barbs to go into the diffs can be collected from hardware shops and is easy as to setup.

                            PLAYDOH;
                            Dual Battery system was setup by Battery World here in Perth. Runs the RedArc system manager so everything is automatic. The guys installed it all with thick gauge wiring and feed it through to the cargo area ready for the fridge and compressor setup. The LED panel to indicate battery charge states was a generic off the shelf unit. I have another isolator off the crank battery and the system allows me to start off the deep cycle if the crank battery does not want to play. I have also picked up a small solar battery charger panel that can trickle feed either battery when setup at camp. It just sits on the bonnet and clips straight to the terminals when parked up.
