  • Bfg rugged terrain tyres???

I have seen BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A tyres advertised recently and they have an RRP from $297 vs $310 for the BFG All Terrain T/A KO from $310 each.

The website (obviously) says these are the bees knees!

Does anyone know anything about these tyres as I'll be replacing my PIRELLI SCORPION ATR's before the GTG with more rugged tyres which are still good around town and on the highway, particulary in the wet?
    Cheers, Brad

I saw those at the 4x4 show last year and they didn't look to "rugged" to me. The tread pattern looks like it'd clog at the first sign of any dirt or mud. Why don't you like the Scorpions you're running?

I noticed that on their web site they come under the "On road SUV tyres" section which would make me think that they're more of a highway terrain so they may not be a good option if you're after an all terrain.

          Hey Braddo,
I have the all terrains , couldn't be happier. Figured they would not be that good on road but have been pleasantly surprised with their on road manners. See you at the GTG
          cheers

I have had BF A/T's on my 100 series. I have been the in Simpson Desert and they were great. I now have them on my 150 Prado and In June we are doing the Hay River, Northern part of the Simpson. I will keep you posted how we go.

I was in Bob Jane a few weeks back and saw these on display. I was asking about prices for the All-Terrain at the time.

The sales guy said they are pretty much a road tyre/ highway terrain. They have just been made to look a "little tough" to be more appealing to people who might want a more aggressive tyre look. I'll admit there look attracted me to ask about them, so maybe it is true.

Thanks MKH! The Pirelli Scorpions have been excellent on road tyres and not bad offroad either, but they are not chunky enough for the rough stuff and not available in LT construction!

Thanks for the replies guys- I have been wanting BFG AT's for a while now, then I saw these which look more rugged than my current tyres, but obviously not as good as the AT's which I want in the LT construction!

I've still got plenty of time before the GTG get the AT's at the right price!
                  Cheers, Brad

I was after some BFG's Mud Terrain 265/70/17 light truck, and after much ringing around told I would have to wait 3 months. Anyway good old Flee Bay came up with the goods last week. Cost $350 per tyre plus $70 freight for the 4 and then $10 per tyre for fitting and balancing. Bought the tyres from Tempe Tyre & Wheel Centre and could not be happier. This time I bought off the Net because I had to, next time I will start by looking on the Net.
