  • SEQ - Ormeau Sunday April 1

I am planning to explore more of the Tracks behind Ormeau on Sunday April 1st. Here's the chance for some of the 150 owners to test out their new underbody protection! Historically the trips have started at the end of Vennor Drive at the Water tower, however another suggestion is to enter via Upper Ormeau Road.

Please read the following disclaimer if you wish to participate on this trip. If you choose not to accept the terms & conditions therein, you are requested not to attend.
    http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...claimer-Notice

Track Difficulty: Tracks will range from Easy through to Moderate. With some challenging bits in between, with varying surfaces ranging from a large rocky section to dirt bush tracks across the top of the ranges and some hard packed shale on the most of the slopes making it safe if the tracks are damp. Due to the nature of a couple of sections on these tracks, a lifted Prado is recommended however can be negotiated with care.

Weather: Hey it's Qld! We'll assess the weather if and when it happens and make a decision accordingly

Meeting Place: Vennor Drive Water Resevoir. An early start is preferable - 8:30am, departing at 8:45am. This is a reasonably short but fun trip which I would expect having us depart the scene early afternoon.

What to Bring: Prado, morning tea, water/drinks, air compressor / recovery gear, UHF. (I will have a couple of spare hand helds if required)

    UHF Channel 16

Bugger love to go but will be out of town, I'm sure LFAR will take the opportunity to get the brand new 150 on the tracks.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

Great to have you guys along. I have now added an attendees list to the first post. I was thinking about entering the track via Vennor road as the rocky ascent is a good way to get the blood pumping, and try and exit via upper Ormeau Rd?

If anyone wants the .kmz file of our last trip to view with Google Earth, PM me your email address and I will mail it to you.

I'm actually stressing a bit because of our tyre situation. We're currently on 1/2 hankook 1/2 grandtreks (we've only had the prado a handful of months, many mods are yet to come!). We've got our eyes on Cooper St/Max but that won't happen this week. We've been offroad in our current tyres around Mt Mee and Belthorpe. Do you think they'll be ok? If not we'll pull out and wait till we upgrade.

Guys put Prue and I down as possibles please, just have to try to rearrange a couple of things.

Jeff and Celeste you'll be OK on what you have in my opinion, our Grandtreks astonished us at times as to where they took us. IMHO unless it's really muddy it's tyre pressure that determines where you can and can't go most of the time.

                      Cheers

                      Dave

Count me in, I am 99% sure I can go (just need to get the wife and daughters approval). I have not been to ormeau in years and keen for a run that is nice and close to home.

                        Cheers Daniel

No need to Stress as I am still running a set of pathetic road tyres on my Prado ( a Taiwanese tyre called Nankang) Believe me they weren't my choice as they were on the Prado when I bought it) I have now been to Ormeau twice and haven't really suffered any serious traction issues. I have just needed to let my pressures down a little more to compensate.

Thanks guys I have renewed confidence in my prado Can I ask another question? We were talking to friends we went to the 4x4 show with yesterday, and they'd really like to tag along. Is this allowed? They don't have a prado (they own a patrol) but I would love to see it being recovered by a prado tho!

                            Thanks Celeste
