  • 90 series additional battery size

I'm installing additional batteries into my 90 series Prado and have read the other topics in relation to this with interest. What I haven't been able to find is the physical dimensions and brand of battery people have used. Therefore I'm looking for information pertaining to the size and type of battery others may have installed in the 'move the charcoal canister' option or on the driver side in front of the power steering reservoir. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

it probably would have been pertinent to mention that I have the petrol version.

I had a TD 90 and ran a 330mm AGM for the auxiliary which is where your main battery is. Looking at the old pics I had before I sold the car I reckon you could also fit a 330mm battery on the left (your aux side) though I am not sure of the location of the charcoal canister. The only thing is you need to make a custom battery tray to run a bigger battery which you don't need if you put an N70 there. (I now remember why I fitted a tray!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I've got my 2 batteries side by side in an "L" shape behind the windscreen washer bottle on the passenger side (petrol). Both batteries are Century compliments of Battery World at Lawnton in Brisbane. The cranking battery is an Ultra Hi Performance 230x170mm and the deep cycle 2nd battery is 230x140mm (65Ah). I bought the car with this set-up, I've just since replaced the batteries while I've owned the car a few years ago.

Going by the date marked on the last cranking battery it lasted 7 years until it gave up holding charge.

Have a look at my rig build.
'Snaga's Ride' there should be brands and sizes of batteries of my dual battery system there.
            Cheers, Leon
