Sounds like a great trip!! The kids will love the big rocking horse, it's really ... big!

Hahndorf is a must do too ... it's a beautiful town and full of some fabulous shops - Kristy will love it! Oh, and visit the National Motor Museum at Birdwood whilst you're in the Gumeracha area ... it's very cool.

VK unfortunately Richo and Mrs Richo won't be able to make this years GTG , bugger! But as part of the 2011 GTG Committee it all in the planning for the journey there and back as the SA crew have the bit on between sorted.

It looks like your committee is sorted and the shed meeting place is one of excellence when the fridge is stocked.

Have a great time and I will inform the Queensland crew to make you an honory member, I will be on Tassie February 2013 for a month and will drop in with a full fridge to get some hints.

Have a fantastic time at the GTG.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

Hey Richo. The fridge in the garage is always stocked so just drop me a line when in the state and we will try and see if we can set something up.

            Hey VKPrado,
Do you really want a dodgy Queenslander dirtying up that pristine country in Tasmania? LOL

Why not? I hear that they have some pretty good B-B-Q's down that way.

You've gotta watch out for them though!

If the state government will house boat people in the state then I can not see an issue with a few Queenslanders coming to stay for a while. At least the Queenslanders paid to get here and will leave after they have had a look around.

I agree with MrsAJ120, the kids will love the Giant Rocking Horse. Don't forget to visit Melba's Chocolate Factory at Woodside which if going to the National Motor Museum at Birdwood is on the way.

Also as you get to Murray Bridge, should you happen to be a bit parched we have a cappuccino machine so free cappuccino, latte, hot chocolate, or even a milocino and we're just a short distance from the freeway (don't even have to go into town).

If you don't make it for a hot drink at Murray Bridge, we'll see you at the GTG.

Thanks Wozclean. We would be going past your place on a Sunday afternoon so a drink and catch up would be very much appreciated. Will send a PM soon to get some contact details.

That will be fine VK, and if your still in town or there abouts on the Sunday after the GTG your welcome to stop in and watch the big race. As per usual it will be bacon and eggs on the bbq for brekkie and the bbq will just remain poised for the day for lunch and maybe even dinner depending how it's going and the cappacino machine will be on the go as well.

Deep Creek Conservation Park is not to be missed. There's camping too.
This was a shot taken just this friday on the way down to Blowhole beach.

                          Well our itinerary for our trip has now been set in sand, to allow some movement. The plan is as follows;
                          Boat
Bordertown- getting out of Victoria as fast as possible
Adelaide (couple of nights)- visiting quite a few things in the area
                          Gawler- McLeods Daughters film sites
Burra- looked like a nice place and half way to Hawker
                          Hawker- catching up with in-laws
Rawnsley park (couple of nights)- heard a lot of good comments so will check it out and try the 4WD track
                          Mount Chambers Gorge- free camping
Arkaroola (couple of nights)- Echo camp back track, relaxing etc
                          Farina- checking it out
Parachilna (in the area somewhere)- sort of an extra day up our sleeve just in case.
Quorn (couple of nights)- Pichi Richi train ride, camel ride, restock/pack for GTG
                          Orroroo- Short run to GTG
Bendleby Ranges (couple of nights)- Meet whole bunch of new and interesting people and begin a week of fun
                          Loxton- More GTG fun
Red Bluff- Even more GTG fun
Beachport (couple of nights)- So much GTG fun
1/2 way back to Melbourne- realisation holidays are drawing to a close
                          Boat- Home

Not looking at doing long days at all. Just want a nice relaxing time building up our energy for the full on week of the GTG.

The Tassie committee just had an impromtude meeting and we have decided to open up our convoy of one to anyone else that would like to join us.

We have made sure we are seen out on the road as we now have a big PP sticker across the front windscreen along with one on the back but also on the rear of the camper. Also on the rear of the Prado and camper is a fluro orange VKPrado sticker so people know who we are.

VK - If you're going to Burra, you can camp for free at World's End Gorge ( http://goo.gl/maps/cwJGt or http://campingsouthaustralia.com/burra-creek-gorge.php ). It is a nice spot. Some websites say no fires allowed, but that's only in the fire-ban season. There's a drop loo or two there also. If you're in the area, you can drive Goyders line ( http://www.goyder.sa.gov.au/webdata/..._for_print.pdf ). There are creek crossings which are usually dry, but some were flowing when we went through. It's an easy drive (unless wet), but the differing landscape is interesting, as are the old deserted buildings. We did the Goyder's North trail. It won't take 8 hours like the book says. We took it easy and were done within four, including a number of stops.
                                Diesel Prado with various things...
