    • I'm running out of months this year as I have a trip coming up. A lot of the people I use are starting to get real busy now with Christmas looming. It'll most likely be next year.

Also good for those who run multiple UHF radios and want the antennas at the rear so as not to block forward vision.

90 series brackets are also complete but they can't go out without poles.

Meanwhile, I've been busy beavering over these:
          1. UHF antenna bracket with light
          2. Quick release telescopic pole

Both of the above are shown in the CAD drawing below.

The quick release pole allows placement of the pole anywhere on the vehicle. Berniebgf thought this up and will be putting it on the aerial tab of his bullbar. It can also be mounted on the roof if there is an appropriate mounting tab available. Obviously the pole needs to be removed when driving.
Perfect being that I have 2 x LED work lights waiting to be mounted. :-)

Sorry, I don't know as I've never seen one physically nor have dimensions of one.

I haven't done the equivalent one for the 90 yet.

              • Kit arrived thanks Andrew. Pole and lamp in place now. Wired through with the rear door following the electric harness to the hinge side. I would like to take the wire up to the dash and switch it from there but not sure on how to access behind the internal trim from the drivers side rear door cargo area and then forward. Could some kind person direct me to a post covering this please.

                Thanks John

                • You're welcome, John.

I managed to run the wire through the internal trim you mentioned without taking it all off. I didn't have the yellow tongue stuff you get from flooring but that would be the way to go. For me, I pulled the door seal off the rear passenger door, near the 2nd row seat belt and tried to pop off the trim near whatever clips I could see. I then worked my way backwards on the horizontal split and popping off the trim as I go until I got to the rear door hinge.

Then it is a matter of pulling the cable through carefully. 2 people would help, 1 to feed and 1 to pull.

As for the driver's seat kick trim, pull it off near the seat belt first then work your way forward.

                  • Thanks. Will give that a go, perhaps scrounge a bit of yellow tongue. All other wiring I have done through to the rear has been on the passenger side and that is easy with lots of little spots to access (like the jack cubby hole) on the way but the drivers side is not so obvious.

Just waiting on anodising of the poles at the moment. Then installing the helicoils and plastic bushing is next.

                            • Fitted the new quick release telescopic pole to the Prado today. Might work as an engine bay worklight too.
The pole is not to be attached while driving

Here is the pole attach to the antenna knockdown bracket at fully extended height.

Here it is mounted on the bullbar at full height and then collapsed and pointing into the engine bay.
