    Thanks heaps.
As a base line reference, a brand new 120 GXL with very little fuel measured 750mm front and 780mm rear.

Comparison measurements can be found in: Suspension Measurements 2

I have Bilstein with EFS springs on my 120. Have had for 9 months now. No problems, have done Cape York with them.

Lift is approx 45mm front and rear i.e. When fitted, I had no bullbar, and had 800mm front, and 830mm rear. Now I have fitted an Opposite Lock steel bullbar, the front has gone to 795mm...

        Hi Guys,

About to buy a EFS lift kit but would like to hear your advice/experience with which front and rear springs/rear shocks you specified (Front TPR-104E <35kg load bearing accessories or TPR 104HDE 35 to 55kg) and rear TPR105E constant 100kg or TPR105HDE constant 200kg. Rear shock options comfort valved (365586) or firm (365586S). Our car runs around empty most of the time and then occassionally pulls 2 tonne of horses/float or 1200kg caravan. Standard springs seem to cope ok but shocks checked out a long time ago!

        Appreciate your feedback,

        Cheers Brett.

          I bought mine from 4x4suspensions.com
They rang me and asked what accessories i had fitted- and then they worked off that.

Got mine booked in at Cross Country 4X4 next week. $1665. I run ARB bar and winch so up front they advised the TPR-104HDE springs. On the back the heaviest I have is generally a camper trailer, 1000kg with a 150kg ball weight. They suggested TPR-105HDE springs with the confort valved shocks 36-5586

Thanks for all the opinions, I have decided to go with the Kings/Bilstein combo though. Nothing against the EFS, I have just spoken to too many people (suspension experts and Prado owners) who have said that the King/Bilstein combo is simply the best there is for the 120 prado's. In the end I decided that if I'm going to do extended travel with my wife and family that I should have the best ride and handling I possibly can.

Hi Pearcey, I will interested to hear your opinion of the ride and handling with these fitted as it is the set-up I am looking at also. Also the before and after measurements would be handy too.

                Cheers..

Good choice Steptoe. You won't regret your decision although all of the combo's mentioned above are good options. Good luck and don't forget to post some pics!

                    Pearcey

I had my EFS Suspension fitted by Xc4x4 May '09 Cost about $1500-
Since that time I have done the Simpson twice which included Oodnadatta, Birdsville and Strzeleci tracks
Also done Googs track and Flinders etc.
So it has done some work with no apparent problems however I do get a loud knock from the front right on occasions
which sounds like it bottomed out but I can not see any marks on the bump stop!
We are currently planning a trip on the Anne Beadell Highway from Coober Pedy to Laverton in W.A.
so I will definitey have all the suspension checked before we go.
Will report any problems on this thread.

                      Gday all
it is with interest that I read your posts and infon on the suspension alternatives for the 120. I have a 2007 120 and am looking to get a lift kit or at least change over the current toyota system as I tend to bottom out when coming down off inclines on to flat road.
What are the model nos for the springs and shocks you have installed and where did you buy as I would like to buy online and fit myself. Are the bilsteins ajustable? I am in the middle of installing draws and fridge but appart from a light weight camper thats about it for now

your feed back would be appreciated as i seek to set up for our life with no tin lids!!

                      thanks

I've taken the before measurements at
                          Front L 720
                          Front R 730
                          Rear L 752
                          Rear R 757

It might just be dreamin' but it is feeling a bit wallowy on right hand bends which makes me think Cape York and Googs have taken their toll on the left front. I'll let you know how it goes

Thanks Nick. The Anne Beadell will certainly test it out, when are you heading on this trip? And just out of curiousity, have you been towing anything on the trips?

                                Flagg,

Sorry this slipped my mind. I couldn't find the email on the EFS kits but here is a link

                                http://www.kampers.com.au/index.php/...s-suspensions/

If you use the Next / Previous button you might be able to see other gear, winches, cteks etc.

I don't think you have to have shopped there before - I haven't bought anything just on their mailing list after the brissy 4x4 show a while ago. I think you just comment on the blog (or give them a call) to register your interest.

PS. I have no affilation to these guys - just thought there was a possibility for some PPer's to save a few dollars.
