They should say made in USA on the side... That'll indicate where they're made.

Yep just went down and had a look at my new tyres, they're made in USA - the DOT code confirms it as well. This set was made 44 week 2011 so pretty fresh. Apparently why Australia's having stock issues is the we're one of the last countries to receive them as Asia, Europe get preference as demand is higher there... South Africa and Oz are last therefore have to wait the longest.

It's a bit silly really because you can get them shipped from tirerack in 6 days, where as the Oz Dist has to wait for Michelin to deliver.

and here they are - got another 25mm under my diff

Rear door hinge won't last long with that weight, will have to get rear bar sorted soon.

              edit, just found post "285/70R17's"

any scrubbing? I'd love to go for 285's when these a/t's are finished with.

                Hi Wooley

Without a substantial lift I doubt that 285's would fit as my 265/70/17's in my 150 have only a few mm's on full lock with a 60mm lift.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

If i was going 285's i'd bump out the offset with some steel wheels, My current 265's have a heap of room without a lift?

Yeah you need to run a +10 offset wheel - I use Dynamic Steel 17x8's. Withe 285's on they're 'just' in the gaurds. I have 3" lift and no scrubbing... however if I go offroad I will def hit my chassis mount at the front under full lock and compression... same with the ARB bullbar wing bash plates. I'm doing the BMC mod that the guys in the states do on the FJ and I will cut a bit of the bash plate away on the bull bar. I also have to shorten my rock sliders as my mate made them to run all the way from the wheel well.

I also suspect that I will rub my rear mud flap at full compression, I'm not too worried about that as I will be replacing it with the powerful 4x4 bar which goes to the wheel well.

I'll post all the pics here when I'm finished - doing it all this Sat

BTW - I've notice about 10% powerloss (it's as if i've disconnected my chip - i.e. lost those gains) in the V6 anyway, might not be as bad in D4D. It would be a lot worse if I didn't do the diff gears (i changed to 4.56).

Ok after some flexing up on the weekend I've decided not to worry about doing the BMC and trimming the bullbar guard. There is rubbing at full compression/wheel lock but it's not enough to warrant all that work. Some Pics

The wheel hits the plastic about the BM and also the BM at full lock/compression

                      Again rubs the bullbar guard

Others may not have these issues depending on how high your 4x4 is and how much suspension travel you have. I have 9" travel in the front and 17" in the rear - I sit about 3" over standard.

Nice pics double_d! I bet you are happy to get 33's on! Puts you amongst a very select group of PP members with 33's.

Personal preference, but just had a thought that you might want to rub out your number plate.

                        Got any side-on shots?

Thanks mate, yep I love them - heading out to Janowen hills 4x4 park next weekend - 9th March to test them out. I should notice the difference with the extra inch under the diff. I'll also be able to determine how much rubbing there really is. I'll get plenty of pics and post here http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-12-to-11-3-12
