  • Help for optioning a new 150

    Hi All,

Further to my post regarding dealerships in perth I am now starting work out what options to include. The lease company is putting together a pricing at the moment which looks like it will be competitive with the eastern states.

    I have the following queries:

Anyone know what the cost is for a spare alloy wheel and tyre?
Can you option the GXL up to have a Fridge console instead of the cooler box?
Is it true that the white paint is not metallic?

At this stage I am looking at the following:
2012 GXL Turbo Diesel Auto in grey (If white was metallic would go white)
    Factory tow bar
    ARB bull bar
    Safari Snorkel
    Dual batteries
    HID spotlights

I am also thinking about adding the following considering it is pre-tax so this is the time to buy:

    Spare wheel and tyre
Swap out factor tyres for All Terrain
    Headlight protectors
    Under carriage spray on protection

My lease company only uses ARB so I'm heading down there this arvo to check out which bull bar, spotlights, batteries etc.

If anyone has any other advice or suggestions please let me know.

    Thanks

(This is a great forum for advice and ideas!!)

Spare wheel and tyre would cost a bomb from the dealer. Best to wait it out for something to come up in the for sale section, ebay or get an aftermarket wheel.

No worries, thanks for the info. I was thinking that also, maybe even a steel rim as long as the rotating diameter is the same as the rest.

I don't believe that Toyota has a steel rim for the 150 yet. They do for the 120 but it is a different offset.

Be careful with additions as WA's luxury car tax is not exempt with leases, so what you may save through pre tax purchasing you will give back double with luxury car tax.

            Cheers

Yes i agree with Vinnie72 i just bought my 150 via lease and it was so much cheeper to add on all access after purchase as the LCT was off the planet. The down side is that you cant add them to your lease but its all about how many toys you can add for the bucks.

Thanks for heads up Vinnie that is good advice, I had better do some research into the LCT figures.

Yesterday I had a look at ARB and TJM with a mate and we both commented that the TJM gear looked like better bang for your buck.

We saved a heap using TJM, also I like their bar n snorkel better so decided to give the suspension a go as well

I bought a naked vehicle only the tyres changed out for AT's and windows tinted. I then added all the bling after purchase.

The TJM bar was a lot more expensive here in SA, it was $2500 colour coded versus $2090 for the ARB CC'd and driving lights fitted.

Is the white paint option for the Prado's metallic? I can't seem to find any info on it.

The salesman at one of the dealerships told me that all of the colours except white were metallic and that the white wouldn't be anywhere near as scratch resistant as the other colours.

                            Cheers

The GX and GXL are a flat white, the VX, Kakadu, and Altitude have a pearl/metallic white paint..

Not sure if the flat white is less scratch resistant, but it's a hell of a lot easier to paint match and cheaper to paint.
