        • From what I can tell it's only used for cracked guards, which seems to be a very small number of vehicles, so warranty . I'd guess no chance of getting it done just because you want it.

You might be able to buy the patch if you know the part number, which i don't, and get it installed. Doesn't look like a very complicated process other than cleaning umder the guard before installing the patch.

thanks ill call them, I got interest from city toyota. Prosser, Kalamunda and Grand Toyota were more interested in selling the whole skirt.

I have an answer - 0, rung toyotaways and melville, the dealer support line (they gave it to me by accident) and a few other dealers, they all deny having a patch or reinforcement for the skirt, City toyota was the most intresting, the service guy said he would look into it and get back to me and the service manager was the person who replied with the usual speel - "no dealer would do such a thing", the patch in the picture looks more than home made 1 off item considering the machine pressed look and CNC cutting....

                    anyone else have any luck?

                    • I've contacted my local dealer and he has searched high and low and there is no mention of the patch.

From the pic, it looks like the dealer may have sourced an inner guard, cut it up and bolted it on. The bolts however will weaken the whole guard if the holes are drilled through the original guard. From an engineering point of view, I don't think the patch is an improvement due to the bolts. Happy to be corrected though.

                      • It is an official Toyota patch which is why it fits perfectly, the bolts don't weaken the guard provided the holes are drilled correctly and rust proofed. The whole thing feels rock solid. Would take forever to make one yourself.

It's also the first one fitted so maybe that's why it's not commonly known, but can't see why Toyota wouldn't be happy to sell them. Will post a part number if I can find it.

                        • Toyota probably don't want anyone to know about them because it will be seen as an admission that there is a problem.

I would be happy if they sold them as re-enforcement kits to protect them selves from admitting fault.

                            • On last maintenance battery was replaced at dealer under warranty, the new one is larger, they said is better for quicker startups, but now I dont know if this is going to cause problem in the future, I dont do offroad, just city driving, but this streets are far from smooth,

                              • I wouldn't be too worried MadMax, my new Century Overlander is also larger than the tray but hasn't moved since being installed over 3 weeks ago. The Prado has done some High Country driving including a fair bit of bouncing around in the last 2 weeks as well.
