  • Opposite Lock Bullbar for 120 Series

I'm posting some pictures of my new OL bulbar for future reference - in case anyone else is looking for photos of one of their bars - I found it nearly impossible to find any info or photos at all.

However I took the plunge and ordered one ($1695 fitted) and I'm very happy I did. These bars have three tabs welded to the top rail, more than I'll ever need! They have fog lights mounted into the bar, and LED side lights and indicators.

In use, it moves around a little, relative to the bonnet, but that is to be expected.

I was told it weighed 45kgs but I think that's a little optimistic. My front ride height has dropped 5mm (800mm down to 795mm)

Hope this helps someone in their research...
    Rob.

Nice looking bar there Rob, does it have recovery points or space to allow them to be fitted?

Thanks for the photos, Rob. I've made some enquiries about that exact bar, the ''4 post bar", and it does look good. Opposite lock's other bar is a "3 loop bar", which IMHO doesn't look as good on a Prado.

Like Trekrider, I would like to know if the mounting of the bar allows recovery points? Any chance of a photo under the bar, where the factory tie down points are? According to Opposite Lock it is possible to fit recovery points, which may make this bar the best option.

Good question...there is a bracket supporting the bar bolted to the spot the recovery points go. So both could be bolted to the same spot (in theory). I'll get a photo to show what I mean:

As you can see, in my case the factory tie-downs go through the chassis, and are welded all round. I personally believe this is enough for recovery, as I don't tow a trailer, etc.

              Photo added above...

And another here, from inside the wheel arch, looking forwards:

Here you can see the back of the factory tie-downs... Also welded.

Thanks for the photo's Rob, looks like the same problem as the ARB bar, can't fit aftermarket recovery points without modifying the bar

One thing to note: the bracket that is bolted onto the upright where the recovery points go is a separate piece to the bar itself. It is just bolted onto the bar. So if it needed to be altered/moved, then the bracket is all that needs to be adjusted, not the bar itself...

That's interesting !! my cheap ebay one came with 2 recovery points. I thought ARB one would be the same.

That is probably the most contentious, highly debated topic in the history of 4WDing It's also the source of so many threads on this and other 4WD forums it's not funny.

The ARB bar has loops that can be used for towing and light recovery but they are not recovery points and are certainly not rated. Please don't be offended but I suspect the same applies to the bar you have.

Same goes for the ARB bar, AJ120 made up new ones for his bar and was able to change them out without removing the bar - I asked as I'm considering doing the same to mine. Just wish I had Andrew's skill to be able to make them

Not offended at all Trekrider !!! Always appreciate fellow PPs advice/opinions coz I'm very new to this game of 4x4.
I'll see whether I can get some photos of mine to confirm this because I was using them for recoveries... and don't wont to if they are not safe.

Don't worry, I'm fairly new too There are several threads on recovery points and I don't really want to take this thread too far off topic.

Interesting, a Sydney Opposite Lock dealer assured me that recovery points were able to be fitted. I may have to call them and see if they can send me some photos of the recovery points fitted to a vehicle also fitted with the OL bar. Otherwise, the X-Rox and Soverign bars remain the only ones able to be fitted with recovery points, to the best of my knowledge.
