Just wanted to share a good experience I had with Matt from DigOptions.
Purchased one of their units and they had an issue with supply, they were quick to advise of the issues they were having and sent free offroad maps to be used with OziExplorer for the inconvenience.

I had trouble trying to figure out the wiring for the camera and Matt replied to questions I had super quick.

The unit itself looks great so far and everything works real well.

Recommend you look at them if you are looking for a new double DIN unit with the works.

    Interesting,

my Digoptions unit is easily the worst thing I have added to the Prado. Yes Matt answers your questions, but I shouldn't have to ask so many. As far as i am concerned they are piece of junk, they simply don't work properly, the instructions are useless, the way they operate once you work it out makes no sense at all. Ozi Explorer is far to complex, the unit freezes up constantly I could go on........

I am not the most techno guy going around but Trish and I have worked out more on our VMS on the Ipad in 2 weeks than we have been able to achieve in 6 months with the Dig options unit. If it wasn't for the reverse camera I would probably take it out and throw it in the bin.

    Cheers Andrew

Hmm Andrew now you have sewn the seed of doubt in my mind.

I defintely havent had any of those issues yet. I understand that OziExplorere can be a bit hard to understand and work out, havent had a good play with it yet though.

I dont know if I'm on the same extream as Andrew, But i have a few problems too. The screen is impossible to see in the sunlight, playing music via bluetooth is buggy, (sometimes i have to switch to dvd then back to bluetooth for music to play). The intergrated ipod connection is useless, since it starts playing from the first song in the ipod when you plug it in, or turn the car on, evertime. And the interface for the ipod isnt great. I find it easier to play music via bluetooth.

DVD's dont seem to always start from the same spot when you turn the car off, and neither does anything played from a USB. There are a few annoying things like that.

I havent used the nav much, since i cant seem to get it to work with bluetooth playing music. And the screen is too hard to read in the day time. Ozi explorer i havent touched, that just seems way too complicated!

The instructions are useless, but i dont tend to read them much.

The reversing camera is definately the best bit about the unit.

But considering the VMS units are about 3k, the Polaris is 1500 anf the digoptions is 500, I guess its not suprising there is a few issues.
        Cheers, Damo

I haven't even tried to play a DVD or use the bluetooth. I wanted the unit for the GPS, particularly off road mapping and to be able to play music through the Ipod so i don't have to cart CD's around.

The fact that during the day you can barely read the screen makes the GPS hopeless even when it works, if you want your headlights on during the day forget trying to look at the screen it's just impossible to see anything. Everytime we turn on the off road mapping we have to go through a complicated ritual to get the map set up as the function that is supposed to return it to the last map used doesn't work. Trish adjusted the font size to a larger size and that has frozen and can't be adjusted. As Damo said the Ipod connection is hopeless as you can't select playlists so everytime we put the Ipod on we get classical music which is where it always starts.

When I fitted the unit the first time and it turned on without even having the keys in the ignition due to a dodgy wiring loom I should have taken the warning and sent it back for a refund. Anyway another lesson learned.

Yes these units seem cheap at first glance, but the fact is they (well mine anyway) is not able to be used for its intended purpose so therefore I think they are damned expensive. Sorry if I have worried you Andrew, hope you have a better run than I have.

          Cheers Andrew

Andrew, I drive with my headlights on all the time as well, and it is possible to turn the dimming function off, to make the screen as bright as possible. It makes a difference, but it still isnt fantastic.

There do seem to be alot of happy people out there though, so maybe you will be happy with your unit Andrew!
            Cheers, Damo

An interesting thread this one. I was going to get one of these as a Christmas present but ended up having to get an iPad for my daughter for school - nice surprise the school dumped on us just before Christmas, but that's another story. I have seen a few comments about the difficulty seeing the screen in daylight but some of the other comments have me even more concerned. Off road I use Oziexplorer on my netbook with a RAM mount and I have a Navman for on-road so I'm not so worried about the nav side of it.

I really only want three functions - Most important is iPod (touch) interface to play music, next is reverse camera and also Bluetooth for the phone. From the comments above it doesn't sound like the iPod interface is up to much which is a major concern. I wonder if there is anything else I could use? If my existing Toyota unit just had an audio input I could live with it - I can Bluetooth the phone through the Navman (not brilliant but is just about OK). Reverse Camera would be nice though.

There is an Aux in on the deck. Sometimes i use that, but i dont like where i routed the aux cable, so i just use bluetooth.

That way you get to control the music via the ipod.

Maybe so but it's a lot to pay for little functionality (for me).

No that is one of the many functions that freezes the unit requiring it to be turned off and rebooted.
