we are in our last year of 3yrs and just extended for another 3yrs or 150k. so far in 3 years we have done 45k so figured this was an ok deal. It was around $1300.

I'm in the market for an extended warranty for my soon to be purchased, used 150series KDJ.

There definitely seems to be a huge markup! First enquiry with local Toyota Dealer, 3yr/150km (Factory Approved Extended Warranty) $2,060!!
I said, look, I've looked online, i'd prefer to buy with you local rather than a phone call interstate, straight away second price $1,500.

Rather shockingly though, called Swann direct today and got quoted $2,670 for a 3yr/200km!! Seems very expensive... anyone have a contact for a cheaper Swann quote?! I'd prefer the 200,000km limit!

Be careful what you are buying. Factory extended warranty is the same as your original warranty. Most if not all the other extended warranties have a lot of fine print limiting claim amounts and number of claims. Same goes for dealer warranties where the vehicle has to be serviced at that particular dealer within very tight limits on time or km. Read the documents carefully.

Best I could get was a 3 year/150,000km ext. Toyota warranty for $1520 reduced from $2070 on the 2016 Prado.

Hard to know which way to go.. that is almost the same price as an ARB rear locker!

Anyone who's requested an extended warranty had one on a V6? Are they the same price? Could it be that they are charging more for the extended warranty due to the increase costs of diesel issues?

I was under the impression you could only buy the genuine Toyota extra care warranty at time of car purchase?

Mine has 6mths left of warranty, would love to buy the extended warranty if it's possible.

I purchased Toyota extra care warranty (Factory extended warranty) 1 month prior to original warranty expiry (3 years) - and I bought the Prado second hand.

I didn't think they would cover accident damage.

I purchased a dealer extended warranty while my Prado still had factory warranty, they neglected to tell me I could get the factory one. I've had the starter motor replaced under the extended warranty so it has paid for itself (my 3 year extension was less than $700).

I believe the factory warranty can also be purchased from Toyota Head Office without going through a dealer and it can be a lot cheaper. I don't know if that applies only to new vehicles though.

I didn't think they would cover accident damage.

Cosmetic damage to the mirror on the outside (Toyota specifically noted the damage on the work order though), but an internal gear/stopper had failed due to the hit. Asked if warranty would cover it (fingers crossed), answer was yes. Pays to ask the question (nicely !!)

According to Toyota yesterday I was told you could. You can ask for an extra 3 yrs factory warranty as long as its within the 3 year initial period.

I just hit up the dealer individually. As noted, there are rather large markups, so ask for a better deal with some of the numbers and knowledge from this thread. $1500 or less for the Toyota 3yr/150km Factory Extended seems reasonable.
