I can't give you the exact price as it was included in my lease package. But from what I have heard & read about the 120's and seen a mate Hi-lux I wasn't prepared to take a chance.

I certainly hope that this issue has bee addressed in the 150's. Although there is, or was before the forum upgrade a thread with a lot on issues with o/seas models & a couple of the early 2009 150's.

The extended warranty in both cases was offered by the lease company.

            1. +1yr - $675 / $915
            2. +2yr - $1,025 / $1,260
            3. +3yr - $1,360 / $1,610

NOTE: I was told that these prices are RRP and you should do better if you negotiate with the dealer.
I chased Toyota for their offering and it was:

            Period - 150K
            1. +1yr - $1,320
            2. +2yr - $1,530
            3. +3yr - $1,840

Toyota only offered a 50K extension.

[Edit]With Swann Insurance, you can take out the extended warranty anytime whilst the manufacturers warranty period, with the one restriction that you have travelled <90,000kms. So whether you pay for it up front or within 3yrs/90,000k, the price will be the same. In which case, you may as well defer the payment.[/Edit]

Thanks guys this is good stuff, looks like I need to negotiate a bit harder on my initial quote of $1990 for the Toyota +3yr of 150k warranty. Has anyone had any experience buying the warranty after buying the vehicle as I was also told it was more expensive the longer you wait particularly if done in the last year of you factory warranty. I suspect this is a sales pitch but I'm not sure.

To stray off topic for a second, the ratlle issue does indeed continue on the 150, have a read of this thread http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-Engine-rattle I also know of somone who is taking Toyota Aus to fair trading over this problem in his 150. This and the 2 engine failures noted on this forum thus far in a 150 at approx 48k and 58k respectively are the main reasons I am persuing extended warranty.

I was offered & accepted the extended warranty when my 120 GXL (v6) was about 6 months from the manufacturers warranty expiring.
It was a group scheme that my lease company arranged.
I have found the Policy Schedules for both extended warranties.

                120 GXL V6 36 Months 200,000 K's $2,190.00 GST inc

                150 GXL D4D 24 Months 200,000 K's $1,840.00 GST inc

I suggest that you do pay attention to the servicing requirements of the policy.

"All Vehicle servicing should be carried out by the selling dealer or an Authorised service facility holding a franchise for vehicles of the same make as your vehicle."
You must make sure that the Authorised service facility completes & stamps the the service records contained in the warranty book.

Like I stated in an earlier post, I made some claims on my first vehicle & it was very easy to do so. As Toyota use Swann themselves all I have had to do was give them my policy number & that was it, Toyota did everything after that.

With the cost of some of the repairs on the diesels that I have heard about, it really was a no brainer to buy another one.

I hope that this info has been of help to anyone considering purchasing a warranty.

                Cheers

That seems quite expensive. Swann Insurance price is $1,260. The price is the same, whether you part with your money at purchase time or within 3yrs/90,000kms.

That is the price you pay for letting the Lease company set it up for you.

I got the extra 3 years when I bought the 150 series GXL in January this year, they started at around 2k for it. I told them I wasn't interested about 5 times the price came down with each phone call. In the end I folded and payed 1k for it the day I collected the car. The sales guy said I just bought the cheapest extended warranty in Perth. This was on the last day of Jan apparently Jan is the slowest month for car sales I suspect he had a target to hit. My view is at some stage if there is an issue after the first 3 yrs then it'll pay for itself. Hopefully help with resale if I sell it privately before 3 yrs is up. So either way it's a good by, especially at that price.

                        That is an excellent buy.

If you do sell, the warranty can be transfered, provided all the services are up to date & the book stamped accordingly. Costs about $60 to transfer from memory.

                        Cheers

Buy extra warranty from dealer on 150?

I have yet to read the fine print, but the Toyota dealer is offering (above the normal 3 years) an extra 2 yrs for $1740 or 3 yrs for $1950 insurance. There is a 150k km cap I think. I am a bit confused after the last Pajero came with 5/10 (yes, I know, it is only a Pajero). The reviews of buying whitegood extended warranties are bad, but what about this?

The deal on the new white GXL 2014 plate seems pretty good so I am tempted to go for 2 extra years?:?

You must make sure that the extended warranty is Toyota Extra Care. If it isn't, it isn't worth the paper it is written on. Many will sell you their own warranty and stipulates that you must get it serviced only through them. This is not the Extra Care warranty. The claim limits is also much less with the dealer warranty vs the Extra Care warranty.

Yes it is definitely the Toyota Extra Care Extended Factory Warranty and when I just spoke to the dealer he reduced it to $1700 for an extra 3 years or 150k, whichever comes first. I am encouraged by it being a Toyota warranty with all details on their web site, not just a dealer or third party warranty.

That's good. Now to squeeze the price down a bit more. Have heard of low $1k before.
