  • 120 Series Rear Seat Stuck

Hi, the mechanism in the rear passenger side seat has failed. This means that the seat cannot be folded into the upright position (the backrest still folds down but the seat latches don't release). I have established that the seat latch release mechanisms are operated via a series of cables. So as to work out where the fault lies I need to remove the plastic seat base (shown in the first picture), so as to provide access to the release cable routing.

Does anyone know how to remove the base of the seat? There is one screw that I can find but the rest of the base seems to be held in place by the actual seat fabric.

The attached pictures will hopefully make things a bit clearer.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.Thanks

    Cheers

    Mike

I had this problem and found lose change had fallen into the recess and would not let the latch move
Took a bit if fiddling but got it out without having to take seat apart

I decided that the release cable had stretched and that the catch wouldn't release at full lever throw, so I bent down the bracket that holds the outer and that fixed the problem, however occasionally I have to have a couple of goes to fold the seat.

        Cheers,

Seems like a common problem. Mine would not allow the seat to tumble 90% of the time. I used Foxo's method, bit of an ordeal but it has solved the problem.
I am surprised Toyota did not provide for adjustment on the cables at the side of the seat, this would allow for a simple removal of the cover on the lever side to access the adjustment.Simples.
