      Hi Trekrider

Rang the place in Pt Kennedy today where 1tuff4b had his done and he quoted $950 fitted just for the header.

Hmm, might have to stay on my wish list for a while, I'll just get the snorkel and K&N Filter done now.......

      Cheers

Thanks Kim, seems like $950 is the going rate for WA then Like you they will have to stay on the wish list for now.

Looks like he has upped the prices. Only cost me $850 for the Pacemaker extractors. Yes, deffinately happy with the results. Recent fill up saw me put 83L in with 563km travelled on the clock (4spd auto), with the roof rack on. The power advantages are enourmous and would highly recommend it. Made enough difference for the wife to notice!!!

Hmmm... thats pretty good efficiency with the rack on. Probably would get 40kms more without rack right?

What was your consumption before tbeing fitted?

Would also like to know what kind of driving the 563km was, highway at consistent cruising speed, combined cycle, what?

I cruise at 100km/h, 10 k over and as you know it sucks more fuel. The driving was from port Denison to Geraldton (2 adults and 4 kids, fridge, roo bar, rack, bigger tyres etc) and back twice (bloody strong side winds at the moment also. Also involved overtaking semi's and caravanners), stop start around town travelling no more than 10km in town a day. My consumption prior to fitment saw me getting just over 440km to 90l and that was also around town (stop start) and freeway cruising. I use cruise control as often as possible and regulary clean the K&N Air filter. Tyre pressures are normally around 38psi

I have a full log book of my fuel usage from the day we purchased the car (4 years ago, stock standard) and this is the best economy I have ever gotten. I was also sceptical about outlaying the coin to have it done, but very glad I have. I wish I had of done it earlier. The biggest difference is when the camper (Jayco Swan Outback) is hooked up. Pulls the camper with alot less effort.

You may have the same results, you may not. Every vehicle and driver is different.

I have the same camper and did a nullabor crossing early this year. I averaged 19.2l/100kms sitting on 90-95kms/hr. This is the reason i need to try something different. I am either going to swap cars or spend some coin!!!

Cheers for your help. Now what to do? SWMBO will chime in no doubt!!!!

Have a look at the sums I posted under the 120 series towing economy sticky. I'm probably going to buy a petrol 1GR because the arithmetic says 'cheaper' to me at least. I'm not taking depreciation and resale into account because it will be a long-term 'keeper' vehicle that will probably go with me when we leave Aus.

The same logic applies to the rate of return on any fuel saving mods. The numbers 1tuff4b quoted are only marginally better (<1L/100km) than I get with my mine spec work vehicle cruising at 110km/h+ which usually returns about 15.5L/100km. That's with 2x roof bars and 1x light bar, bull bar with 3x comms aerials, Dueler 695s, 1.5" lift, 80l Engel, 6x Wolfpacks full loaded, 2 adults, 2 kids, usually >90L fuel on board.

The saving calcs at about $1.12/100km travelled using current metro ULP prices, so $850/$1.12 x 100 = 76,000km to see a saving?

I'm seriously looking at LPG, that seems the only option for long-term fuel cost savings assuming you're putting in the kms and can deal with supply v. range where you want to be travelling.

Can't stand LPG. Had some bad experiences with both early and late model cars.

In saying that though, I love modifications. If researched and installed right, it improves your overall experience driving the car. Thats why i will always make changes to toys...I want to get the best out of my hobbies and have an awesome time enjoying them.

Fair point. It's my biggest concern too.

Do it man, you wont be dissapointed. but don't pay that much. I got mine fitted at Oak Flats Mufflers (wollongong) and I'm sure I only paid about $500 fitted (and they drove me to and picked me up from the cinema)
It got rid of that horrible exhaust leak noise too.
My 120 Prado... Shiny paint, Clean underside, Modest Stereo, (Very non-conformist)

I suppose u are referring to extractors. Which ones did u fit?

                            What movie did u see?

One benefit of living over East. Over in WA we have to pay that much just to get the Extractors (without fitting).
