  • Awnings, awnings and more Awnings!!!

The choices, sizes and formats are all overwhelming. At one point I wanted a Foxwing but then I started to think I may want an ARB side and rear awning then Ironman's have had a few good positive comments.

After all that there is also the Black Widow awnings and SupaPeg as well. I am starting to lean to a Supapeg

But.....now SupaPeg has a a 2.5 meter out in a stand easy deluxe or Eco....oh for God's sake!!!!

Oooh like the look of the freds arm. But it seems you need the Black widow roof rack according to their description, plus the awning is an additional cost. Could become rather $$$ by the end of it.

Does anyone know of any good specials going on any awnings at the moment? I missed out on the last sale at BCF, was hoping they would come up again but not seen them in any of the catalogues.

I purchased mine from Supapeg. It's a 3m x 2m and cost $199 with poles, cordage and pegs. I looked at quite a few and the quality (in my opinion) leaves other brands way behind.

freds arm is quite pricey, you can buy 2 awnings for cheaper then the freds arm and a 2.5 awning, depending on what awning you want, still a good idea though. cheers samo
had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

Fred's Arm is pretty cool but at a cost for sure. I am with Samo on this one...I would just buy 2 awnings I reckon.

I haven't seen a Supapeg in person so really interested to see how it compares.

Hi everyone, can you mount an awning straight onto the side rail, or does it need to be fixed to a roof rack? Thanks Michael

I have not seen them fixed to the side rails, but i have mine mounted on the Aero bars using L brackets.

big-trev has installed his directly onto the roof rails. It touches the corner of the roof, so over time, there will be a bit of wearing happening.

Here is a pic of my Foxwing set up. You do need to put guide ropes up if its breezy, have also got 2 side panels for it as well that just zip in that have poles or just peg them to the ground as wind protection. Paid $1000 all up. Got a mate to weld 2 "C" brackets to the ARB alloy roof rack as I wasn't keen on the brackets you could buy.

                            Regards Adam
