I bought my 2007 Prado 2nd hand (ex mining) and it only came with one master key. I had the misfortune yesterday of accidentally locking that one key into the car miles away from home. I opened the vehicle, threw my keys into my bag which I left on the back seat. The car then automatically relocked itself with the master key inside? Is this a common problem? I would have thought there would have been some buit in programming to prevent this sort of automatic relocking from occuring? None of my other cars ever did this? Is there a way to stop it relocking itself?
I would like to get hold of a blank key just to be able to open the doors. I don't want a key that starts the engine or bypasses the immobiliser, just purely open the doors so I can get the master key if this happens again. I intend to hide this key on the outside of the car and use it to get into the vehicle if something similar happens again.
I hear on this forum a "grey key' mentioned? Does this open the doors and nothing else? How much and where can I get one from?
    Cheers
    Bryan
PS For those of you who have two master keys and accidentally lock one inside of the vehicle you can ring home and ask somebody there to unlock your car over the phone with the other master key. This really does work, well on my vehicle anyway. Didn't work for me this time however as I only have one master key and that was locked inside!

Can't you just get a key blank cut, which will open the doors manually? I don't think you need all the magical bits in the key, just to manually open the door.

      Am I missing something?

Didn't know about the mobile phone thing. That is cool if it works.

Hey guys. Just wanted to share that Jacks and I have both now had success in reprogramming out new keys with these instructions. For the second video you have to read the instruction in the about video section (comes up after video is finished)#

I hope this is an assistance to others in the future

Can you send me the instructions too Matt. My one master key sometimes refuses to work and think I better sort out a spare in case it dies completely. For all you guys back in 2011 who had problems programming the key to do the remote door locks, did you eventually get it working? Are there better blank keys to purchase that work everything OK with no hassles? All I see mentioned here are the blanks available from ebay? Are they OK?
              Thanks

Apologies for rehashing this beaten thread - STILL having troubles programming the key to start car

Have the same coded transponder, 60120, as the original (working) key, and successfully programmed the central locking part but after months of web/forum searches and nearly every variation of programing it still wont work. Trust me, i have read EVERY related post on P.Point before posting this!

When using the 'insert 4 times, open/close door 6 times etc' method, all within the required time frame, the immobilizer light goes from a consistent flash to a 'flash flash, pause, flash' cycle... and after 60 seconds this continues, not turning off and registering key as every instruction suggests. I can only assume i am in some stage of the programming phase coz the security light sequence changes, but is there something i am possibly missing or yet another method to completing it?? Its a 120 series 8/03 (from the VIN plate), GXL TD manual, 1KZ TE. There is no other alarm or electronic power kit etc, just straight factory setup
Also - is there any way you can b/lock yourself out for good so your only master key wont work?? little worried with all these continual attempts it'll block me like a bank card with 3 wrong pins.
                  Thanks, Az

Is there any way you can accidentally lock yourself out for good? as in no-longer have a working master or wipe the info from the master so it wont start the car? I only have one working ignition key (hence the need to make a copy or two!) If you find or remember how you finalised it that would be rad!

I know you can only code up to 5 (i think ) keys
These keys can be erased from the ecu memory
I dont have the programing copy now as it was jyst a photo copy from toyota
They key you have that starts the car ... what colour is it? Light grey? Or a black remote type? If its a light grey key then it is the valet key and this wont be able to be copied. You might be able to have it cloned at a lock smith

Yeah, I read all this info through the various posts - its the Black 2 button remote type. Bought car 2nd hand, only had 1.5 keys when i got it (one which opens and starts car, one which had the head smashed off it; no head=no start car!) Think it might be a dealer trip.. bugger! Closest dealer is about 2.5hrs from me.

Anyone know how to remove keys from the ECU to allow new ones to be coded? or how to tell how many are already saved? With only one working key this is nervous territory! I feel i am so close to having it work..

Im currently going through this same thing. My key came apart and the guts of the key fell out somewhere. I got a new key from a locksmith who managed to program it so it starts the car but cant get the damn lock/unlock buttons to work.
Tried the whole put key in open and shut the door spin in and anticlockwise direction on your left pinky while praying to some ancient god with no joy...
Just wondering whether anyone has any clue how to get the buttons working

There are 2 remote modules corresponding to different frequencies which corresponds to the model year. Make sure you are supplied with the right one.

One is for up to 2004. The other is from 2004 to 2009.

Ah ok so the locksmith may have supplied me the wrong key?
