  • WA PP'ers - Casual Powerlines Run - Sunday 21st August

    Hello fellow WA PP'ers.

Myself and a few other fellow Toyota owners are planning on a Mundaring Powerlines run on Sunday morning.

Meeting in Mundaring Coles car park near KFC at 8.30am for an 8.45am depart. The plan is to be back on the Tarmac by 12.30pm so people can get home and still have some family time.

I did the track about 4 weeks ago and it was in fairly rough condition but nothing a stock Prado couldn't negotiate with some careful driving. There are chicken runs in many places but the rains can make these more difficult in some cases.

Vehicles should be fitted with front and rear recovery points at a minimum and have a compressor for re-inflating your tires. Your own recovery gear is advisable but most people will be happy to lend to you if you ask nicely.

UHF channel 22 as 16 is pretty busy in this area.

Typical PP trip rules apply and everybody is responsible for their own actions. Nobody will be pressurised into doing anything past their comfort zone and nobody will be left behind.

      Damn!

I have done this track a few times with the brother in law from 4WDParts in WA in his disco. I am there in early Jan 2012 (driving the 120 and camper from Adelaide) and looking for a day trip so please keep this in mind, either the lines or somewhere south (expecting it to be hottish in Jan lol)

I'm already on a Powerlines trip the same day with some guys from work - we are meeting at the KFC in Mundaring at 08:30 and will probably do the track from East to West. We currently have between four and seven vehicles (only one Prado though) going but most likely will only be four. Hopefully will see you on the day - I should have my PP sticker on the front by then.

          Trekrider,
Well we'll probably see you on Sunday morning then...
The only difference by going West to East is that it enables more options to return to the tar if we take a while to progress in a large group.

Thanks Darren, we did the normal West to East run in April and thought about going the other way for a change although 'on the day' we may change our minds. One of our group (who isn't actually going now) suggested going East to West as it's likely to be fairly crowded with all the rain we've had lately.

Just checked out the forecast for Sunday - 'Showers increasing' with a 90% chance of rain (10-20mm). Should be fun

Put me down for a maybe

Would be cool given that I've driven the Prado once in nearly three weeks and the Pathfinder is getting boring...

A group of us here in SA did a weekend trip at Bendleby. It was funny when the 11-13 yo daughter of one member was crying a little (a lot) in fear of dropping off the side! Like most kids though she wants to do it again. He will just need an extra pack of Kleenex.

Looks like there will be six cars in our group and we will be going East to West for a change. As we are meeting in the same place/same time do say Hi either there or on the track when we pass

                            Trekrider,
As it doesn't look like our group is too large and we have had a few drop outs from my ++, maybe we should join your East to West run if you and your team don't object... Feel free to tell us to 'do one' if you'd rather keep it a work thing.
Either way, see you at 8.30am on Sunday!

No worries Darren, we are happy to join up - makes sense See you guys Sunday - it will be good to catch up with Terry again if he manages to go.

PS of the six cars we have only two are from work anyway - plus my two passengers.
