    Thanks Dorey,

do you think we could drive the savannah way in comfortably 14-20 days?

Our car has arrived late from Timor, so we would need to arrive in Cairns before the 9th to fly to Sydney on the 10th..

We have finally had the car cleared by AQIS, even had a little more cleaning to do......

But we have now left Darwin, over the last few days we have travelled south from Darwin, via Katherine, we're currently making a camp for the night in Borroloola, on the Savannah Way, day time temp is up at 39C.. with no air con to save fuel, it's a little uncomfortable, not to mention the night!!

Tomorrow we have 600km to cover, and a couple of river crossings on the way!!

The plan is to head to Cairns over the next week, so if anyone is on route and would like to meet for a beer let us know.

What a trip for sure! Enjoy your stay in Australia and try not to rush...slow down to see as much as possible.

Visited your Facebook site and saw the pics for the strip down before shipping from Timor....geeesh! Pretty thorough!

Turn your AC on. Lots of studies show that it uses no more fuel than the drag caused by open windows. And if it does you will be cool! Enjoy!

Its been a while since we’ve posted on the forum, but here’s a few updates since arriving in Australia:

            The Savannah Way

            Katherine Gorge

            The Beginning of the End

We are currently in Cairns, given its starting to rain and way to humid up north, we have decided to head down the east, and on to the west in the new year.

Martin, Thanks for sharing that, in one word "FANTASTIC"!! If only only I hadn't spent so much of my youth on mis-spent adventures then I could have done some of these as well. Oh well I'll just keep going on our OZ tripping who knows maybe Santa will have a word in the Lotto Fairies ear

                          If you were wondering,

Yes we are still travelling, after Australia and NZ we headed to the US and travelled all the way down south to Ushuaia. From Buenos Aires we shipped to Durban and travelled through Africa (South Africa, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, Egypt etc).

We made out out from Egypt to Cyprus and our now in Turkey.

The Prado / Colorado is still going strong old, with 310,000 miles (500,000km) on the clock. We had to change the steering rack in Colombia but apart from that it was just the usual repairs, bushes, rack ends tie rod ends etc. The prado performed very well at high altitudes up to 5000m in Bolivia.

As you can imagine we have 1000's of photos to go through, here a few from Bolivia,

We have also started a new FB group for those Overlanding in Australia and NZ, please feel free to join if its of interest to you or you can help others out visiting.. Overlanding & Touring Australia
