  • What drawer system are you using?

I've made some enquiries in regards to drawer systems and a few companies out there don't make the right combination I'm after to fit the 57 litre engle in the back of the 150. Just throwing the question out there to ask you guys what drawer system you're running, in what configuration and whhich one you went for and why. Currently I'm looking at a set from offroad systems. Mainly for price, and configuration. If any one else can offer advice I'd be hapy to take it onboard and follow up any leads you may be able to pass on. Cheers

I have Outback drawers (4wdinteriors.com), side by side with fridge slide on left. Excellent quality. Decision between them and Black Widow came down to price, and who could supply soonest.
If I had life over I'd get them configured with Fridge slide on L side and 2 drawers in a stack on the right.
ARB now doing modular units where you can configure as you please - look the goods to me.

I have fourbyfitouts.com.au ones. Kind of pricey but supposedly easy to remove (not 100% convinced).

I too, have been looking at drawer systems & I think I will go for the Aluminium drawers from OffRoad Systems, a bit dearer than the galvanised ones but due to the weight issue & that if you can park a 4wd on them with no ill affects, that indicates that they are strong. The standard setup is 37.5 kg & the 3rd row seats weighed 45 + kgs. Thats got to be an advantage.

          Hi

I've got a custom Black Widow setup that has a fasle floor with a Platinum drop slide on the drivers side over a drawer that has all the recovery gear in. On the left side is a slide under the false floor that we put all our camping boxes on so that we can take them out of the car without unpacking them. For us make pack up and pakc down for everything maximum of 30 minutes including tent and bedding.

          Regards, Richo.

            Hi Richo,

I would be most interested in having a closer look at your setup. It sounds great. However I won't be down that way until the GTG.
Sure am looking forward to that & I would like to have my drawers in by then.

i went a black widow setup, side by side and slide on the left hand side.. decided blackwidow over the ORS setup because of the drawer runners.. they are standard hettich style runners in the ORS setup, and an actual steel tube and ball bearing setup in black widow. cost a little more, but i figure they would be a bit stronger.

Sounds good however the 60 litre/57 litre engel is a different story. I was looking at the tourer series from Black widow. However after consultation with them I was informed that the only type that would fit would be the tourer 970 IL x BW900 and this is too small for the engel width wise. The Tourer 1025 IL looks like it'd fit however they also informed me this would not. I'm looking into Treck Tech from Adelaide, ORS or Tanami. I'm leaning towards Tanami and when looking at the ORS setup I was also a little concerned with the drawer rollers they use. Just waiting for a few quotes from Tanami and Treck Tech before I decide where to throw my hard earned.

I like the Black widows in my bro's 120 series. Very well made, good sliding system, as you point out.
He's done the hard yards - I'll just copy.

He has his 40l engels on right side, tied down to the slide out shelf, not slide out engle slides. That way you get full use of the shelf when not using fridge. (Of course, you do have to tie the fridge down properly)
My fridge is 60L waeco so like wooley, I would be appreciative if you had a photo of your set up Silvo

                      cheers

I went with the Drifta drawers. 2 drawers side by side with Waeco fridge slide on the left for our 50l Waeco.

Deciding factors for me were weight (they're carpeted plywood and very light), ease of removal (I can have them in or out in under 5 minutes), price (under $1000 delivered to my door), customisation (Luke will make any shape/configuration you like), ability to leave 3rd row seats in (this will be important when we have kids).

They're not as strong as the heavy steel drawers but are perfect for what we need. I am never going to put 100's of kilos of stuff in each one anyway. I was originally skeptical about the polyurethane skids they use but the drawers slide in and out very easily and there is nothing to go wrong.

Each to their own but these suited us perfectly and the build quality is excellent. I would certainly buy again.

                        Cheers, Sam.

I had Outback Drawers in the 120 and they were good. Very heavy and expensive, but excellent quality. I have just ordered Drifta Drawers which for a little over $1500 including installation. The configuration is 2 drawers, a side wing kit for a neat fit, an integrated slide out table, and a cutlery/utility rack inside one of the drawers. They are much lighter than most systems, and because of the ply construction and plastic sliders, no internal room is wasted on the roller componentry ie the volume of the drawers is larger due to no wasted space.

some photos with these replies would be great. it would make it easy to compare the different systems and ideas, and then generate ideas of our own on what may suit each of us.
