  • Big Desert & Border Track August 26th - 28th

Well after the success of the recent Border Track trip it is on again!
I was solo on the last trip so want to take Wife and son along; also this time round we will be allowing Camper Trailers

please read this first (disclaimer) http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...claimer-Notice

    When: Friday 26th – Sunday 28th August.

Where : Friday – Big Desert, camp overnight at yellow gums
: Saturday – Big Desert to Border track, travel Border Track to Red Bluff
: Sunday – Border Track to Keith and then home.

Meet : Those coming on Friday can meet me at the campground in Big Desert , Yellow gums, turn onto No6 South bore road 4kms west of Murrayville and foolow to campground. Those coming on the Saturday we will meet on the Border Track at the start of Ngarkat NP. Presumably most others will be coming from Adelaide so you can make your own arrangements as far as coming in convoy.

What to bring: Bring your own everything including firewood, and recovery gear.

Minimum vehicle requirements: I assume you will have a Prado, however if coming in anything else it must be a high clearance 4WD with suitable recovery points.(this doesn’t mean a lift kit is mandatory, it means don’t bring a bloody Hyundai Terrican) If you do not have recovery points other the standard tie down points that will be ok, however if you get stuck you will be on your own, If you catch me at a weak moment I may lend you a shovel so you can dig yourself out, but don’t count on me being in that good a mood. A UHF would be more than useful as well, I have a hand held that someone can borrow if needed.

Who’s coming: I would like to limit the group to 8 vehicles given that some of us will be bringing trailers. If you have your name down and things change and you can’t make it, please let me know so space can be opened up for others.

    1. AJ120, Andrew, Trish and Daniel (12yo) Friday
    2. MLC, Rob and Lea Friday
    3. 120D4D Micheal + ?? Friday
    4. Hibbo, Brad + ?? Friday
    5. Foxclan, Troy + ?? Friday
    6. Gunnel, Peter + Partner Friday night or Saturday morning
    7. Mal56 Friday Arvo at Yelow gums
    8. Ondaboat

    Cheers Andrew

And there I was thinking I covered it all in the original post, forgot to mention no Mexicans allowed  Oh well to late now, welcome along Brad. I will update the list in the first post.

Ian the KK is a heavy camper, the old standard 1kz is gunna struggle with that, might have to bring extra snatch straps to get you through.

              Cheers Andrew

Andrew, when we did it we had a small Pajero IO with us along with a SWB Jeep. Neither had any real issues and being light vehicles managed to get over everything.

I would rather you didn't mention Crows, thats a bit of a sore point at the moment.

I will definately be attempting the sand dunes with the camper, hope to have my exhaust by then, might be a real good opportunity to compare just the exhaust to your exhaust and chip! Bog holes I will assess on the day.

Sounds like a good trip Andrew.

Added to the list, will be good to have a local along. Look forward to cathching up again Troy.

Well nearly a full house and less than 24hrs after the first post I will need to confirm closer to the date exactly when and where everyone is going to meet, just so we all know what is happening. I will send PM's out with my contact details closer to the date.

                          Cheers Andrew

AJ, Lea says Border track is too easy in the Prado. I have been told to take her Subaru AND tow the trailer AND to do ALL bog holes. Talk about a challenge! She thinks it will be fine because although the Subaru does not have a lift, 4 blokes can lift it out of the bogs ;p
