  • Glovebox Removal

Is there anything to watch out for in removing the complete glovebox?
I notice that there is mechanical lid stop on the left hand side & some sort of cord on the right side.
It also appears that there are only 3 screws holding in the complete assembly?
    Thanks.

Been a while since I removed mine but it was an easy thing to do. There used to be a thread on this somewhere, might have to have a look in the Archive.

To access the cabin filter and do a good dust cleanup.

I removed mine to route my coax for my radio and whilst I was in there cleaned the air filter.

I just drop the door off by squeezing the tabs on each side and removing the little springy retainer from the RHS, which gives access to the filter from memory

            Cheers,

Correct Leigh, actually ro run cables for the UHF & to fit a DP Chip.

I though I had left all this craziness behind when I sold the Disco II & bought he Prado, obviously not!

I reckon I had the whole thing about 3/4 out all except for down the left hand side. Are they for real when they say that sill trims & side panels etc have to be removed?

Did you just remove the glove box itself, or the whole assembly?

                    1. Open glove box.
                    2. Release the retractable cord on the side but pulling the end of it out of its holder.
                    3. Squeeze in the sides.

Thanks, but I am wanting to remove the whole thing, not just the lid/door.

Sorry for incorrect info above, no need to remove sill trim or kick panel,
I thought from memory kick panel fouls under cover but it doesn't.

                        So as others have written:

Remove screw holding under cover, grasp cover and pull down to release spring clips,
lay cover down and unplug modules.

Remove glove box left and right lower screws.

                        Remove upper screws.

Grasp glove box and pull out, it will take a little effort as there are spring clips.

Unplug light, switch mech and airbag cables.

                        Done!

                        Cheers

Thanks Leigh, I had almost put it in the to do later file!

Does the silver painted trim above the glove box have to be removed?
