Steel Winch Bullbar (Ebay)

Hey all,
First post here, I have been looking at bullbars on the market $$$$wow, found a steel bar on Ebay (looks like ARB) contacted seller and he advised it is the same as the ARB comes with fog lights and suits prado with flares. cost for supply only is ........ $640.00. has any one had experience with this bar (no brand) I will be picking it up this weekend.

There was another ARB lookalike bar going around a while back I seem to recall. I think it was in Syndey and one of the members went out and looked and it was crap. Welds where bad and not up to scratch. $640 is pretty cheap so if it is an ARB bar then it's possibly been in an accident and may have damage. Look for cracks along the welds and mounts. Could be fine all the same.

Something dosn't quite smeel right to me. The pictures show a 150, not a 120 yet the sale is for a 120 bar. There is a group called Pinnacle Wholesalers in Ballarat (http://www.pinnaclewholesalers.com.au/product_map.php) and they appear to have a bullbar for the Hilux. Nothing listed for a Prado on their website.

If I was you I would call Pinnacle and check with them that it is legit before going ahead but as I said it's showing an 150 bar, not a 120.

Whats the old saying, "you get what you pay for" I wouldn't be holding my breath that it is going to be first class at that price. But you never know, you may just have stumbled on one of the all time great bargains. It will be interesting to see what you think when you have it as it sounds like you have already done the deal.

I have already contacted Pinicale Wholesalers and they confirm that the bar is to suit a 120 series, this is a new bar to them and they do not have pics of the 120 fitted only a 150.

I have aranged a mate to collect and make payment on pickup, he will be looking over the bar prior to paying.

I will let you all know how it goes, they have a few in stock

Bull bar recieved and unpacked!!

Hey,
I just unpacked my new Bar, all looks good.. Accually I am very happy thus far. all in good order and looks like Vgood copy of ARB bar.
I have included some picks of the bar, Fogs (included), mounting plate, bash plates, wiring lume for fogs and bolts.
I can confirm that this bar is not for a 150 series and is for 03 to 09 prado with flares. I must admit I was not expecting so much for the price.

Gee its a dead ringer for the ARB deluxe bar. You often do get what you pay for but that also includes paying part of the company overheads e.g advertising. ARB have built a reputation and deliver fairly high quality products (just dont ask AJ120) but it comes at a price.. You just MAY be onto a winner.
If it were me though and because they probably dont have much of a reputation (well at least not on the 120s) I would inspect the exact one that I was going to purchase... makes it difficult being in SA though.

Being a wholesaler, does that mean its a China import?
Ive seen some great stuff come out of China, but on the other hand Ive seen plenty of rubbish too.

@ Bluejed - Any chance you could throw a set of calipers or a ruler across the steel bar and tell us the thickness of the material? Also, are the top loops welded just on top of the bumper section, or is it holed out with welds on-top and underneath?

In the last pics, which show the mounting brackets, are those recovery points or similar, the small plates with the round holes in them? If so, how thick are these?

Loads of questions... But these actually look quite good!

the bar is 3mm thick powder coated steel, and the top loops extend through the bumper to the inside base and are welded in place (Refer pic).
the mounting brackest double a strengthening and recovery hooks that extend past the bash plates (pic included)
the recovery hooks are double thickness and welded together for added strength, I will run the ruler over the bar and components tonight.

Thanks mate. Please update this thread with pics once you have the colour coding done and you've fitted the bar. Id be keen to know how the recovery hooks actually attach as the bolt holes don't look overly large.
