Just check them out the lowest profile on the market I still fit in 2.1 car park with 3 ince lift.
    I. Have a 2 meter windcheetah in the shed off my old 120. I looked up the new track mount set up for my 150 and they reckon the 1.8 meter is the biggest rack that's supposed to go onto a 150 ? The site catalog mentioned something about the roof mounted air bag canisters. It's got me buggered ? The doluim website recommends drilling the roof and fitting rivnuts when mounting the track system for a 2 meter rack.

I think it's a arse covering thing, in case some clown does drill the roof to fit the Rivnuts and drills into the canisters. I am going to buy the mounts and just fit my 2 meter rack regardless. There is no need to use the rivnuts, I didn't on the 120 and reckon the tracks will be fine without them on my 150.

I had a Wind Cheetah installed on my 120 series Prado, no need for drilling or any mods. The mounting tracks fit 100%, it’s an alloy rack which makes it light, low profile, no wind noise and no drag. With a 2” lift I was still able to park the car in my garage which is only 2.1m in height. Now selling the rack with mounting kit due to sale of vehicle.

Fortunately a liberal application of silicon during fitting has kept everything waterproof. I am concerned about the way the mounts are attached to the roof and if this would do ant damage to the roof.
After a week of rain the roof is now stained with rusty water marks, from every drain hole, not a good look for any type of longevity.
The manufacture also leaves a lot to be desired, the mesh is very thin and separates easily - certainly not strong enough to stand on, the welding looks like it was done by a drunken cocky.
Definitely wouldn't recommend these to anyone considering doing any real offroad work and am in the process of assessing if we will be keeping the rooftop tent or putting up with the early starts to take the kids motorbike riding.
If we end up keeping the tent will be investigating a better constructed rack to mount the tent to.
Whilst the pricing was great, the quality is in line with the price.
Have a long think before looking at these racks
Headed over to Action 4x4 in Kelmscott today for their fathers day sale and picked up an ARB touring rack, looking at the rack on the 150 out the front, the mounts and construction should make sure that we can take the tent anywhere now.

Hi Guys, 1st time poster here.

Got myself a 150 series Prado, had it for 3 years, finally upgrading the roof racks from old and ugly Rola Large Vortex tray to something better looking in the mold of ARB (alloy or steel) full cage mounted directly to channels.

I've been doing a heap of research over the last week, I like the ARB deluxe in alloy (due to the weight) and steel, but am not going to pay the inflated price for the amount of "Serious" offroad action it will see, it will likley see Dog Fence Beach once a year, maybe deep creek in SA and some beach trips and that's about it. Maybe NT in a couple of years time.

My budget is $500-700ish for the racks, I'd rather invest the leftover cash into suspension.

So, I've seen and spoken to a lot of suppliers of "lower cost" racks: Powerful 4x4, MJ 4x4, Aussie Auto Parts Accessrories, 4WD SuperCentre(not Tigerz, staying away from that brand).

I've narrowed it down I think to Powerful 4x4 or the 4WD Supercentre full length (2200x1250) racks, but would actually prefer the ARB size 1800x1120 ish (Aussie Auto Parts Accessories had a steel 1800x1200, but I wasn't convinced)

My main concern is of course quality, being in Adelaide, I can't see them and have particular concerns regarding the welding and mounting.

Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with the mentioned racks, or any advice what else I should be considering is welcome!

I went through the same exercise for my GX 150 and went with the Aussie Auto 2150 x1250 alloy flat platform rack, only 20kg in weight.
I went for the flat rack to reduce drag and allow the fitting of my 1200 wide solar panel across the rack.
Most of the cage type racks are only 1160 wide.
I'm waiting on delivery as they are out of the mounting brackets, got a $50 discount for the delay.
I'll post a review went I fit it

Thanks Redsand, I spoke with John at Aussie Auto today, I was excited when he mentioned the alloy full cage, but he actually talked me out of buying it. He said if you are doing serious 4wdriving especially on corrugated roads, don't buy the alloy full cage. Of course this may not apply to the flat platforms, my concern was the welding which would more affect the full cage.

After further research this evening, I'm actually leaning towards the 1800x1200 steel full cage from Aussie, I feel it will be stronger and better for wind resistance being set back a bit further.

I'd be interested to know what you paid and pictures when you get yours.

Here is ebay link to the aussie ones I'm looking at: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-La...item43c1da54fe

                    Link to their website range:
                    http://www.aussiecarparts.com/cart.p...customListIds=

I found an old Pajero forum (2 1/2 years old) bagging the welding quality of the steel ones, I would be really interested what they look like in the flesh nowadays, any Victorians nearby to check the store at Campbellfield??

Thanks Alan, these are nice, but virtually the same price as the ARB ones which defeats my purpose!

Rhino Pioneer Platform is probably cheaper.

                          Nadgey,
I looked at steel cage but was put off by the 48kg weight.
You lose half of the roof load just in the rack and it becomes an exercise to install and remove.

Have you considered roof basket style they would be lighter than the full cage and reasonably strong.

Thanks Redsand, yes I have and not keen on the look of the baskets, it's the main reason I'm ditching my Rola Vortex Tray and Rola Cross bars, plus it's too high for some carparks I frequent. I'm set on a cage, really like the look of them, the ARB 3/4 is similar weight which has me thinking the quality is half way there.

Not so much worried about the weight, it's mostly swags, sometimes my Turbo 240 tent, chairs, fold up tables etc.

The Adelaide 4WD show is this week, will sneak down and talk to ARB on price as well as Powerful 4x4, I have their Kalahari Awning which is a very good product.

If you want to get into carparks, best to get a platform rack rather than a cage style rack.

Can you bolt the Rhino platforms directly to the channel or existing channel rails rather than use cross bars?

I guess they are easy to pull on and off?

I do like the look of platforms, but for some unknown reason my head worries about things falling off! Maybe that's a cue for tying things down correctly!
