Hi all

Am organising a trip to Straddie on 26th June 2011

At the moment Straddie ferries are offering return Straddie on a Sunday for $50 as long as you leave on the 0600hrs ferry. You can return on which ever one you like for the afternoon.

At this stage the plan is as follows;

0600hrs Leave Cleveland for Straddie

0700hrs (or whatever time the ferry gets in) exit Dunwich and travel across the centre of the island with a stop at brown lake to have a bacon egg sausage brekkie on the beach (I will volunteer to be chef!)

00whateverhrs drive up the beach to Straddie hotel for lunch (always wanted to do this) after some exploring of the island.

Return to mainland (Cleveland at agreed time)

If interested let me know as we are going anyway the only issue i see is the 26th June is first week of school holidays.

Booking MUST be made on the 19th June 2011 1 week before travel. I plan to co-ordinate this prior to booking.

Llewellyn family is at this stage saying a tbc yes
2 adults and 2 more kids under 7
would be great to meet others in SEQ

oh and Goodie happy to bring my Webber Q to help with the breaky if required

Hi Goodie,

We get back from an O/S holiday on the 24 Jun, but if we get things squared away early we will join the trip. Praodgang (Jim) might also be a starter. If you can put us in as TBC I'll get back to you with a confirmation and numbers. The permit is available for purchase on the barge.

Just home downloaded the Photos and here is the report.

Up early and onto the Big Red Cat for a 0700hrs trip (50 minutes) to North Straddie.
Following participants;
Goodwinfamily (Jason & Tracey) with their interesting kids Black 150 GXL
LargeInAPrado (Michael & Jodie) with their fantastic kids Silver 150 GXL
Anthony & Tracey with their fantastic kids White 150 GXL
Grant & Ang with their fantastic kids and a very soft new ST Patrol
Jason & Julie new bubba new Ford Escape (Quiet achiver of the day)

Its then a short drive across the island for Breakfast at Brown lake.
Great spot out of the wind and traffic for a meal. In summer you would be swimming for sure!

How did I miss this one! I really have to start reading the trip reports section again, looks like you all had a great day! Good to know about the $50.00 return trip on a Sunday, something the wife and I will be keen on doing once the new bub arrives.

After breakfast air down and a drive along the track that leads from the Brown Lake park.

The track is blocked after a few clicks due to water on the track so it was back out onto the tarmac and across the island to main beach.

Then along the main beach highway to Jumpinpin saw Whales, massive Sea Eagles, and amazing gutters that are a surf anglers dream!

Parked up at Jumpinpin are the following

Watched the fishermen and the kids explored the dunes and all sorts of items washed up as well as just Digging in the sand!
Their Parents......we just yacked and ate amazing cupcakes!!!!

Back down the sand highway to Point Lookout and the Straddie Hotel.


On arrival here is the outlook we had to deal with!

After lunch its a nice drive along cylinder beach in and around its tracks before a short drive to Amity

Unfortunately its now time to go back on the Big Red Cat!

$50 return and $35 for a yearly permit.........cheap at double that price cant wait to go back!!!!!!
