    Day Trip around Meryla [NSW]

    Hi Guys only just recently have we acquired a Prado so we thought we'd take it into the Morton National park and Meryla State forest to test it out...

    Pretty much got the trip from the '4wd trips close to Sydney' book...

    We started from Fitzroy Falls and made our way eventually to Wombat Hill Lookout Trail via a few dirt tracks and detoured through some powerline tacks. We then returned via Gunrock falls firetrail. We got halfway along gunrock falls fire trail and climbed a pretty gnarly hill but halfway up it got pretty hectic and my tyre pressures were still too high... we decided to u-turn and follow the easier gunrock creek firetrail.

    A few times we had to turn around as it got quite rough and we were by ourselves with no winch fitted yet...

    Overall a good first trip, plenty of good views and some decent puddles to play in!

    I will definitely plan a detailed route and post it up if anyone decides they want to do a day trip out that way.

              The book we used...


              I will try and make a trip plan up so if anyone wants to do a nice leisurely day out with some nice views and opportunity for some challenges they can just follow it...

                    Yeh! great pics n report there lockedup,I went for a bit of a look around down there a couple of months ago,we went in from the Mossvale end,had a good day in there, found a couple of camp sites and a nice expance of water too,been going to get back for another look.

                      Thanks guys,

                      Now that i know the area i'd be happy to plan out a route if people wanted to do a day there. I think there would be enough tracks to keep people interested. There is a couple of great rocky hill climbs and some mud puddles and muddy ruts... There is also an easy option if it gets too hairy. Overall a good day out with tracks and nice views as well. cheers
