Luca, where did you buy it from?

        Hi MLC
I have the same system as Luca's (see My Rig Build up - post #18). Purchased from Southern Insights http://www.ram-mount.com.au/ - good to deal with over phone (me asking Qs before purchase) and ordered from their website - arrived in post within 3 days.

Decided to change the dash a little more to mount the ipad2 more securely whilst it can play and charge at the same time. Here is the outcome. Relocated the heater controls lower down and trimmed with matching soft vinyl. Whilst still a work in progress seems to coming together alright.

Ipad 2 custom dash - with EGT and Auto trans gauges

Finally finished this project - covered in raw kangaroo leather for strength and flexibility - happy with it for now but may change the colour later. Roof lights and rear lights added to the console.

Thanks Wooley - more time and fiddly than anything else. Found that the matching seat vinyl was too thick to complete the job whilst kangaroo leather is very thin, strong and able too stretch over the panels more easily allowing a better final fit when putting it all back together.

Guys for those of you that have the RAM suction mount (or similar) can I ask what the positioning of the unit and I-Pad is like (given that it's fairly large) in relation to driving, ie does it impede much of your view??... andis it in fact legal (ie if we are driving the Cape Development Road and a copper goes past) sitting up there??

I am looking at one for the obvious reasons in that for about the same as a HEMA Navigator, I can have an I-Pad which doubles as a "computer" when I am on the road and then use it with the HEMA App that's available for about $180 (will look at VMS as well before I buy).

She who must be obeyed reckons it will obstruct my ability to see clearly, I am not so sure???

This is my best mod yet and so easy!!!! Mounting the IPad to the dash.

You will need an Ipad case that the pad slides into and has a fold over front cover.

Get some of these they are command picture hanger strips, they mash together to form a good strong bond.

Add two to the top of the the dash and i also shut the air cond vents below.

Do the same to the Ipad cover.

Mount to top of the dash, the strips mash together, very strong.

                      Cont. next page.

lastly insert ipad and turn on your mapping.

Still to be tested on and offroad yet, the only issues i can see is the pad jumping off the lip it sits on at the bottom, i will just add too more tabs to the bottom. I will leave the tabs on the Ipad case and pull the ones of the car when not in use.

                        Hema App for Ipad, $149.

                          Cheers

Just have downloaded the hema, looks wise doesn't look that much different to mud map but given that it is hema I am sure their will be more to it, will test next weekend. Have heard good things about the hema vs vms. Plus I had iTunes credit just lying around at work.
