I am also in the hunt for a solid iPad holder for a 150 prado without much luck, ideally I would like a solid mount like the ones made by http://padholdr.com/ipad-mounts-for-cars-trucks/ they would be great but do not have one for the prado or Lexus equivalent yet, does anybody know a suitable place in the dash where I may be able to fit a custom bracket similar to the padholdr. I have looked at ram mounts but would prefer not to drill into the dash and the one that attaches to the seat bolt looks a little short. The clip on ones seem like a good idea but I am afraid it might not be sturdy enough especially when 4wding. any help would be greatly appreciated it is doing my head in.

Thats pretty funky... I noticed that my local REPCO had some iPad mounts on their clearance table the other day!! Might be worth a look at your local...

I looked at them two weeks back(not on sale) and they are around $140. Hope they reduce it considerably to sell them.

Using a Ram 'tab-tite' mount with a triple suction mount allows the iPad tobe mounted still in it's clear lexan skin I have on it - fits the iPad 2 if I upgrade and very solid - Johnny Appleseeds.

Sorry can't take a photo until next week

On my 150 I've used a specific RAM kit (Product Number:
RAM-B-316-1-TAB3) that bolts somewhere on the floor and holds the thing very nicely.
I used the screw that holds the passenger's seat to the body, 2 minutes work.

Thanks for the picture, I have been searching for one, I have the gxl and ultimately would like the screen more up on the dash just below the vents over the screen. Ram also do a cup holder mount which I am keen to see.

I use the windscreen suction mount for both the ipad2 and iphone4, Got the 2 mounts plus car chargers and USB cords off ebay, they were all about $20AU with free postage direct from Hong Kong, Quality is perfect.

Same setup as the one pictured in post 3, I just had a browse on ebay under ipad2 and there are numerous kits available, look for the sellers with perfect feedback and free shipping.

                      http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=....c0.m270.l1313

should be something on this page, just have to find the best priced listings.

Just needed to do a dash mod for the ipad2 so it would charge and I could use it for navigation when travelling. So here it is. The more observant will note the lower dash mod that includes an EGT gauge and Trans temp gauge as well.

standard set up with the mount just in front of the screen.

Tthe ipad in the dock and charging quite nicely. I can also hook it up to play thru the stereo if I choose to but it is Ok for navigation just like this as well. Also enabled for the iPhone.

Hi Cory - this is what I did.
I got an ipad charging stand from ebay - A$12. A cigarette lighter phone charger for the ipad which plugs straight into the dock via a USB cable. The I got off ebay a double Din adapter unit for the Prado A$75. I wanted to keep the original as new so I can return it to stock later. Reinforced all this with fibreglass (after it snapped a couple of times!!), cut and modified the double DIN adapter with fibreglass and bog, screwed in the mount to the DIN adapter, bogged fibreglassed, sanded and painted. Total cost about A$100. Time - well quite a few hours of fine tuning everything. It all sits sweetly now - for heavy off road I have an elastic strap that goes across the screen from the air vents for a bit of added security.
                              Cheers
