Agree with the map lights, but compared to the old wedges its still ten times better, I have no trouble reading things around the console area now. If there were directional ones included the kit would be perfect.
Totally agree with your there after swapping mine out with the Ebay The LED Lad kit. I wished it was in warm white though.

I brought the led lad kit as well and hate to say it but it was the biggest waste of $45 I have made on the car! The map lights were useless, the festoon seemed too big and far from bright enough, the led panel was not the 5050 type and all of the colour temps were different between the roof lights. I don't know, maybe I have high standards but I expected much more for the $45 price than about $5 worth of leds, he didn't even bother including the vanity globes that he said he would!

Basically to anyone who is thinking of an LED upgrade, just hit up Ebay and buy them individually, as AMTS said it might take a few goes to get it right but the led's are worth next to nothing on ebay.

Not sure if the info has been posted already, but for a 150 gxl (I think kakadu and VX have a few extra's) you need:
      Door's - 4 x 5 led 5050 T10 wedges (larger ones physically don't fit)
Map lights - 2 x 5050 T10 wedges or small panels as AMTS suggested (there is plenty of room in the map lights so bigger/brighter = better)
Vanity lights - 2 x 5050 T10 wedges (as with the map lights, plenty of room so get 9 led ones)
Rear and center roof light - 2 x 48 SMD 5050 panels with festoon adaptor (the trick to these is trying to buy 2 with the same colour temp that is close to your map lights, good luck!)

Just fitted the kit from Led Lad and it is spot on. Change over was simple and all the light temps match. Very simple and effective mod for the car.

I think the waste of time comment is a bit harsh...

I think the kit is close to spot on - my only criticism is that the map lights could be a little brighter. I will eventually experiment with others off ebay that are directional (light projecting forward of the wedge forward) rather than the omnidirectional ones supplied.

The two rears are great and the courtesy lights / vanity don't really matter that much.

I did see a photo of someone mounting 2x 48 led pads in the rear, I can only imagine how much light that throws off!!! Even with my dark tint, the single pad in the middle and rear lights up the cab completely and everyone can see what is in the car!

Yeah I did that, in both the boot and the cabin. It didn't actually double the light though, it just spread it a bit more evenly across the car, which is handy. I don't find it over bright or anything, so think it was a worthwhile upgrade for the $2 each or what ever it was, plus a couple of minutes of soldering.

Guys how do you replace the 4 door lights?
I have got them off,but it seems impossible to take the bulb out, anyone had any luck?
The bulb is part of the plastic housing.

They just pull straight out.Rubber gloves work quite well when doing this.

                            GXL Courtesy lights?
Has anyone wired any lights into the actual doors of a GXL?
I had a quick look - as far as I can tell, there is only a reflector in the doors. After a quick squizz behind the panel, I found a loom near by which is connected to the side impact sensors for the airbags. Good idea to steer a wide berth round them!
Do the VX/Kakadu have courtesy lights? What's the probability of finding the same wiring in the doors (if it exists)?

Australian I'm assuming you have an update 150 as the old GXLs have door courtesy lights in all doors.

You are right, so Toyota deleted them on the facelift model? What year is it? (Shakes head)
