Re: 2009 D4D Grande - My "Mid-Life-Crisis"

I reckon I don't need to think about it because I have front & rear lockers

Just kidding, I will try it if get a chance. Doing the border track mid May, so I will get myself into a difficult position and give it a go if the chance arises or someone else can offer some valuable experience in the meantime.

All that said I need to refresh how the traction control works again.....

          Re: 2009 D4D Grande - My "Mid-Life-Crisis"

Actually, it's probably more the stability control (VSC) that I can see being an issue rather than traction control, as traction control will only activate on slipping wheels. VSC will activate (I think) even if wheels are not slipping - it works by comparing steering wheel position with a yaw sensor and attempting to correct steering by braking individual wheels.

I think the traction control stays on with the centre diff lock engaged, but VSC disengages.

So as long as you engage the centre diff lock before engaging front or rear lockers, my guess is it wouldn't be a problem. But it's only an intuitive guess.

No, it's $440 per year in NSW - plus a one off order fee of $200 the first year.

I still remember when my plates cost me $180 per year, and some friends and family couldn't believe I paid that much for them. Given I've had my plates since 1986, I've given the RTA a lot of money in plate fees over the years.

Re: Rig Build 120 D4D Grande - 'MLC'

Here are the results of last night's efforts. The soldering and attention to detail shown by Matt (Matt & Loz) is first class. What you cannot see is the install of plugs for releasing the face, soldering, sealing etc. Seriously professional job that makes the unit look like it rolled out of the factory with them already installed. Again I am extremely grateful to Matt for his skills and top class effort, and of course Loz who cooked a fantastic lamb roast! As said in my previous post I am paying for it now on the home front, but as they say, no pain, no gain 8) Happy to say I actually did some work this time removing a quarter of what is in the engine bay just to poke a wire through! :x

These are the two outlets below the rear air conditioning controls. For GXL owners the outlets are where the mall tissue box goes and still can. The use of these are for things like small coolers, passenger phones, kids games etc.

And this is the outlet to charge my GPS or other hidden items in the glove box. The outlet sits perfectly just above the Aux outlet for the radio.

Well, next task is relocating the winch box to the engine bay and install of a remote unit. Sick of scraping off skin trying to open the bonnet :!:

Haven't experienced hot weather with them on but will post when I do. They are comfortable to me, the girlfriend complains that they smell like a wetsuit. Might have to look at upgrading the girlfriend lol.

I will find out where the fusebox originally came from as Matty (Matt&Loz) got it for me. It was an extra he had so I bought it from him.
