Some people do get excited at 100mm.

        lol. I think I prefer 695mm

595mm is pretty conservative... Better than your old billies though.

On the suspension database, the King 25001-262A runs 618mm. All you'd need is extended swaybar links and brake hoses. The closed length of 403mm is a bit long though I think.

595mm is conservative to make sure that the airbags don't pop out or get too kinky when fully extended.

I will have AMTS fancy spacers in which should be taken into account.

been running mine for a year now
have the brake hoses sitting on the shelf and havent needed them as yet ( we will probably use them on yours !!)

i am yet to fully compress mine on the tracks ( had a good crack at it on the weekend at the flinders !!)

i just added the spacer under the sway bar , bus am looking to make a new bracket or just buy the extended ones

                • The issue with mine is that I want to limit the extension length because ever since buying a Grande, I have worried about "popping a bag out". The reality is I like getting off road, I like doing so with and without a trailer (T-Van), I have never been shy in doing what I believe is within my capabilities. This gives rise to a greater chance of an airbag dislodging, especially with the T-Van connected as it can at times cause exaggerated flex from side to side on uneven terrain. When the new bags go in, they will NOT be welded into position like my current set up.....

Before anyone asks, springs is not an option, I am too comfortable with the ability to raise and lower the rear so I do not have to disconnect when we pull up to level the trailer. Its just 10 seconds of raise/lower and we are ready to pop the back and sleep on a level surface. Oh, also no hole digging when lowering or raising the jockey wheel too.

                  • Pretty stoked with the Kings. Thank you to Razorback who did a great job and the day was entertaining as well as fruitful.

So the first Bilstein snapped while doing Googs track and was replaced by a piece of Australian hardwood:

The other was courteous enough to hold in place until today, sort of:

                    • After a few hours this is the result:

                      Rears

                      Fronts

Pretty happy with the result and looking forward to having the camber set and tyres realigned to then start playing with the settings.

Amazing that you broke both front billies... Better go and have a look at mine

Do you remember an event that might have caused the breakage?

                            Hey MLC,

Holy cripes, that is crazy that both struts snapped!

Can you confirm these were 712 struts from Autocraft?

I'm with Photoprado, can you elaborate on how this happened?

                            • I guess the main question is: When you encountered the snapped LHS strut on Googs track, did you check the other side?

What would cause this breakage? Given the short extended length of the 712's and the weakest rebound valving of all the Bilstein struts in Whitey's Bilstein encyclopaedia, would the problem have been excessive topping out?

                              • the rubbers in the bush were pushed right up under the eye
so my guess is they then had too much movement in the bush and started to go metal on metal which then cracked the eye
(another reason they should be done up when on the ground !) so as to not put the bush in rotated tension when working)

the camber bolts were contaminated with dirt & rust, another year without being turned and they would have seized

if you getting wheels aligned i would remove the bolts & never seize them ( it's a big job to cut them out (i have done it once already !! )
