      bit more input ,
I'm loving the V6 , sounds like your keen on the 150, if you want to drive b4 you buy, try my 120 , it might really change your mind... the V6 eats up mount ousley.. and coupled to the 6spd.... you pick the incline and pick the gear.heaps of power. as a daily runner its goes at $50/w on fuel (dapto to belllambi)..then towin', with 1.5t trailer will get about 1100ks out of the tanks on the freeway at the front... just on the limit.. i didnt see many deisels keeping up over the mt white hills returning from last holiday... one diesel prado with a med pop top van had a go but faded about half way up the (sydney side) climb up from mooney mooney bridge.. the V6 was very responsive with 3rd gear climb on the speed limit all the way up.... it was earning it's keep because as i backed off at the top the temp gauge finally moved off the normall by about 2mm but instantly returned back

Im sold on the whole petrol package.. i believe the 1gr petrol motor with good servicing / good fuel.. (non enthanol blended fuel , only a personnal preference) should run up well over the 300,oook mark.. and for what eva argument " its worth " I am bi-est in my oppinion... pm me if you'd like a drive .. Cheers butane

I ended up deciding in a Prado D4D VX in black. It is on order through Leaseplan and due to arrive in June.... feels like a long time at the moment.

Im sure I will have even more questions when it arrives

Given your buying new, D4D was a good choice.

            Re: Confused! Petrol v Diesel

            Hi All
I have a 120 DHD GXL Auto bought new in 2009. This is my third diesel 4wd first was an 80 series 4.2, then a patrol 4.2 that I had an aftermarket Turbo fitted to. The 120 Prado is the best 4wd I have ever had. I tow a 20ft Regent caravan weighing about 1900kg fully loaded and get about 15l/100 whilst towing. The hills willl slow you down but generally I don't drop below 75/80 kmh even on big hills without pushing it. Driving between Newcastle and Sydney on the F3 I normally use the cruise control and maintain the speed limit with out any problem. I always get 9.5l/100km when not towing but my regular driving is mostly on regional roads and use the cruise control to keep the speed cameras at bay. I use distance travelled as an indicator when to fill up and get about 1600km between refills.

All I know is that it will be a black 2011 Prado VX ......?

Apparently there is a 16 - 26 week wait, so no use getting too excited!!!!
You might as well get a petrol if you're going to get a black one. Another reason for you to never take it (seriously) off road.

                      Re: Confused! Petrol v Diesel

Petrol is quicker, smoother, and quieter

Diesel is strong, powerful, and somewhat noisy.

I have never been a diesel man until I drove a Hilux in Thailand for three weeks. Then I was hooked.

I copied that Holden HSV advertisement.... I JUST WANT ONE!

Test drove the petrol GXL and diesel GXL and still wanted the diesel. Even though I like Traffic Light GP's (especially Sydney, Snooze, You Lose City. LOL)

Recently did a 4WD Recovery course in a 120 series Prado and it was diesel automatic. An incredible performer. It convinced me that I made the right decision.

                      Horses for courses.

                        Re: Confused! Petrol v Diesel

My v6 does everthing very capably & on long trips loaded (3 adults & associated gear) does around 11 ltrs per 100klms.
Cant fault it towing either, have towed caravan, car trailer(loaded) & loaded box trailer & fuel economy was very good.
Considerring service expenses, I would not consider anything else., but it all comes down to persoal choice.
Good luck with whichever you choose.
                        Happy trails

I got you sussed! The only black four wheel drives that I come across out bush are burnt out wrecks. The locals love their black cars - Holdens mostly: Statesmans, Crummydores and Maloo (Kangaroo) utes. But you just don't see them riding around in black 4WDs out in the dirt.

Be careful with that horse float, they can bite... I drove past an upturned one on the median strip on the Calder Hwy this morning. The skid marks on the road went from the left lane then across two lanes into the centre grass area where the float was on it's side and the older model LC was next to it (still upright fortunately). Luckily it was one of the few non-treed areas of the median strip.
