Bugger! Reversing out of my carport the other day I lightly clipped the passenger side mirror on the post and it pushed forwards slightly. Figuring they are made to flex forwards and backwards, I pushed it back to the original position and everything worked fine again (apart from the scratch). Auto fold in and out were both working perfectly.
Now, a few days later, whenever I fold the mirrors in for parking, the passenger side one over rotates when I press the button to fold them out again. It goes right around to almost touch the front quarter panel. The motor still obviously works as it will fold back in again fine if I press the button again but whatever stops it from over rotating on the way out seems to be broken.
Any ideas how to take the mirror cover off so I can have a look at what's happening inside? I'm worrying that it'll be a broken plastic retainer of some sort but will require a whole new mirror housing which I doubt will be cheap.
Update: Even If I move the mirror back manually to the correct 'open' position, every time I start the car, the bloody thing folds right open (facing forwards) again.
Any suggestions before I take it to Toyota?
Cheers, Sam.
