  • Fender flares

    Hi there!
Could not find on 150 series forum anything about fender extension flares, so:
Is there any other manufacturer around except Arctic Trucks (they wont sell their mods (looking at AT35) as kits - neither any of contents) that would offer fender flares for 150 series?

    Kind regards and season greetings

    Re: Fender flares

I was looking at this last night on the Europe Landcruiser forum ...... and am in two minds :? ...... should these be on as standard OME? (stopping the car looking like a base range UK Colorado from the nineties - on which Toyota didn't fit them) ...... gives it more protection ......or........ maybe it looks a bit dated and too 120'ish??

Hmmm for me no..... when the 150 first appeared I wasn't taken by the look ... but to me now the 120 looks dated alongside it..

          Re: Fender flares

          G,day all,

Have just purchased 2010 d4d gxl after trying to find a good late model VX and have just realised one reason why the new shape hasnt bitten me like the 120 series.................I,m thinking it needs some wheelarch flares to break up the straight vertical lines which make it look inferior to the old shape(just my opinion).I loved our previous 04 and 06 VX,s and am hoping this new look will grow on me.....does anyone know if these flares are available, what cost and has anyone seen them on a 150?
loving the diesel and the standard specs on the gxl...apart from the smaller tank and rear power outlet.
          cheers

            Re: Fender flares

The current trend is for vertical straight lines on almost all new models as far as I can see .... and without door 'bash' guards as well which seems a bit strange IMO. Mind ... the optional 'door protection strips' for the 150 look grim to my eye. Whilst wheel arch flares make it look rugged and a bit more 120'ish ..... but also date it .... its a difficult one!! :?

              Re: Fender flares

              Hi guys!

Any updates on flares? Has anyone found anything on the market?
I just wanna go for ET 0 wheels to accommodate 33 tires with no rubbing - so need flares to cover them.

The closest Ive found are flares for Lexus GX460

At first I though to get them - make to mach LC150 and eliminate those awful openings for front ones

But they are to pricey and wont be sold just alone.

              BR,

              Antons

I suppose the main reason for the 150 not having flares (and other protective trimmings) is due to Toyota's cost savings. They've actually done it to all of their cars and if you even look at the current camry and aurion range, they have also removed the strip or "door bash guard" as you call them which were available on the previous model. Sure it looks streamline, but is it practical? I'd prefer the flares on the 120...

                Cheers

I would imagine that fitting those flares would require some guard modifications, chopping, etc. I found this article below

                  http://forum.ih8mud.com/200-series-c...truck-35s.html

I reckon it looks pretty bloody good if you ask me. Now they don't do flares for the 150 but you can check the website below for the 120 flares. As mentioned in the article Arctic trucks want your car there to be able to perform the work. The blokes in the website below will sell to the public.

                  http://www.fjallasport.is/index.php

I reckon I'd be keen on a set of flares for the 150. Make it look a little more like a 4wd, it is all just personal preference though

So has anyone found anything for the 150? I've been looking at rims and would love 17x9 ET0.

I plan on using something similar to this:

                        http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/index...-the-foot.html

it's not for everyone, but it's practical.
