Logan Village / Yarrabilba Pine Forest

For anyone who visits or plans on driving at the Logan Village / Yarrabilba Pine Forest, Police arrested 30 people there last week for trespass and numerous other charges. Most of these were for trail bike riders but there were a few 4wd's who were got done as well. I know this area is a popular destination for some other 4wd groups, but now that development approval has been given to the area we can expect to see it policed more often. I guess the same can be said for Flagstone and Ripley UDA's. :cry:

This crackdown can also be attributed to a number of complaints by locals about excessive noise from trail bikes, complaints by horse riders about trail bikes scaring their horses and 4wd's damaging the tracks, and increased pressure on the people responsible for the security of the power lines to meet their obligation.

Just a heads up so you can make an informed decision about whether to drive in these places.

If it's any consolation, i beleive there is a "working group" in place that is looking into a reserve that addresses the needs/desires of 4wd'ers, trail bike riders and horse riders. I'm sketchy on the details - whether it's state or local government and if they're past the consultation phase, but i'll look into attaching a link.

I was talking to a couple of blokes yesterday who still venture out to these tracks. Has anyone been out to the Yarrabilba powerlines (also known as the Logan powerlines) south of Logan Village off the Waterford - Tamborine Rd of late? I'm aware there is a lot of Earth moving works going on out one side of the area for the new 'satellite city that's under development, but was curious as to whether it still is a "no go" zone?, as it looks like there could be a lot of fun to be had...

The entire area as far south as Plunkett Road is private property (Delfin). They stuck up gates and signs telling people to stay off, but these were quickly vandalised and destroyed. The area from the powerlines and south is yet to be developed and is still frequented by 4wd's and dirt bikes... and the boys in blue.

I went to an open day held by Delfin and they mentioned something about allowing the undeveloped area to be used for recreational purposes in the interim (10-20 years), but no specifics were mentioned.

Just keep in mind that any damage done to the tracks in the wet will cause problems for the rural fire brigade when they have to fight the fires that get lit during summer.

Cheers for the update Mike. I might try and contact Logan Police and find out what (if any) areas can be accessed.... (I think I already know the answer but you don't know for sure if you don't ask?)
