For over ten years I used BFG A/T on my Hilux Surfs and thought they were a great tyre - superb wear rate, great on road performance, decent offroad performance for an A/T - so no complaints here. Last summer I needed a new set as I changed from 15" to 16" wheels but the in the UK the BFG A/T were expensive and the stock levels were low. I'd also seen some negative reviews about the KO2's.

Looking for an alternative I searched American and Australian forums and the Cooper ST Maxx got very good reviews. I decided to give them a go and got the best price mail order from Germany. Had them now for around eight months and have to say I'm really impressed with them. They have a slightly more aggressive pattern than the BFG but not as aggressive as an M/T. They are great on the road, both wet and dry, and although I've not gone off road that much, when I have done they are IMHO better than the BFG A/T. As Jezz say, after many miles they still look as good as new

I was going to go that route before I got my KO2's, but the deciding factor was when my tyre guy told me they are no longer manufacturing the KO range, and what stock they have left is it.

To me, that says that I put tyres on my car that majority of people are getting 100,000ks out of - which is going to last a few years at least, and they are going to be used for what they were intended for - offroad!
So what happens in say, 3 years when I am out bush, cop a decent tear & shag a tyre & can no longer get a replacement?
Ive then got a set of 3(haven't bought 5 yet) tyres with 50,000ks on them that are basically useless.

Plus that, and when you see the KO2's in the flesh, they look so much more aggressive!
