  • Roochard I sort of agree with you but the engine is no where near 90% of its capacity. There is definitely lots left but the engine management isn't sophisticated enough to wring the engines neck and I certainly wouldn't be doing it with a generic add on chip supplementing a generic factory tune.

I agree with mjr, as one of my work colleagues has a 8 month old 150 D4D in Germany and he purchased a genuine TRD chip and exhaust through the Toyota dealer when new, complete with factory backed warranty. I've driven it and it goes performs really well above standard. A better option than chipping is to have the ECU re-flashed, as the re-tune actively works with the factory ECU parametres and takes advantages of the superior factory safeguards. However, re-flashing is a tad more expensive.

        cheers

I have some contacts in Europe, what if i'm able to obtain this chip? What's their diesel quality like compare to our? TRD Europe would have had it program accordant to the condition/fuel quality right?

I seem to recall that Hi-Tech Diesel was selling Steinbauer chips when I had my injectors done there a couple of years ago.

As people on here state, those that ACTUALLY had used the Chip It brand ... not just hearsay ... the Chip works well. For those that had issues (a small number) the Chip was swapped out.

However, that was before. Now there is no issue.

It gets better power, is cheaper and has ACTIVE EGT Control to safe guard the engine. You can take that to the bank.

Speak to those that ARE customers ... they are very happy

... both with the product and the service.

Also, you are supporting an Aussie company ... not an European one
Trust me go for the Steinbauer I have spoken to those who were Chip it customers plenty of them on the side of the road

                  • Hi guys am writing from kenya and am interested in a Steinbauer chip for my 150. is it an easy plug and play fit? From what i have read so far on this thread its seems to be a relatively simple chip to fit by a competent mechanic. Does it come with good detailed instructions on how to do the installation?
RIP dear Black welcome hi silver

                      Very easy.
I can plug and unplug mine in about 5 mins flat.
You don't need a mechanic to plug it in

Thanks Nightrod might just give it a go, from the threads it seems the power difference is noticeable so it should be worth it considering we drive over here mostly at 5000 ft above sea level the standard tune can feel a little weedy sometimes

                        • I'm jealous of those with a Audi 3.0TDI engine, 200 kW and 600Nm of torque, let alone the 4.2 V8 or the 6.0 V12.
The other competitor Disco 3.0 has 180kW and 600Nm (respectively 155kW in the detuned version).
Why would the D4D engine be at 90% of its capacity? We're not in 1970 where a Merc 2.0D had 60 horsepower.
I want to overtake safely or be able to maintain your speed at a hill. That's not much to do with having a 4wd for a race horse.
