Can you run a Steunbauer and Chip-It chip on the same car at the same time? If it's possible I might try it

i thought i'd better post my question up in here instead of starting a new thread.

under the cover of the steinbauer, there are two LED's. one is red and the other is amber/yellow.

            what do these indicate?

i faintly recall the red one indicates the operation of the chip relative to throttle. ie, blinks faster as more throttle is applied etc. but i'm not too sure.

            cheers for any help.

Got my steinbauer yesterday, got it fitted at Diesel Care in Goondiwindi - great service and very knowledgable.

Not taking anything away from the others but I am extremely happy with my decision to get a Steinbauer and the gains were what I expected and are really nice.

After doing some good miles in hilly country since I am not fazed by it not working whilst in cruise, I know it doesn't work so if I am hitting a hill or want to accelerate I use the pedal anyway other than that I would expect fuel consumption differences would be negligable.

Giles - Quick question, any idea where I would get the sterling exhaust in Brisbane and really is there any noise difference??

This thread seems to have gone quiet. Thought I would give it a bump. Has anyone else fitted one of these chips since the last entry 5 months ago and if so, what are your thoughts? Any issues? Seems to be many issues with the chip it but also much more activity on that thread.

I have had my Steinbauer for the best part of a year. Done thousands of k's of corrugations, but no really deep water crossings. Mine is simply velcroed to the top of the fuse box. Was fitted near new, so not really sure what power difference it made. Also have a 3" Manta exhaust, and when you sink the boot she really goes from 2-3000rpm. No codes, start probs. Be interested to add a Chip It when they get a waterproof casing. Believe these two can be combined, but would have to put 'er on a dyno to tune. Otherwise you could end up with an overfuelled monster. Like lots of torque towing my camper. And general cruising.

I to was going to fit a steinbauer chip but had a good chat to the bloke from taipan and descided to go with it. Only just fitted it so not a lot of feed back yet. Done about 1200 k's so far and no problems. Great power increase, did get a substancial fuel economy increase but I also have 265/70/17 MTZ's on and a roof rack and awning which adds a bit of wind restriction which adds to fuel economy. Most impressive thing for me is that I have an auto and it doesn't unlock the torque converter going up hills hardly at all now while in cruise control which I used to find a bit annoying before the chip was fitted. Any way very impresed so far and one worth looking at.

My understanding is Taipan use DP-Chip. Correct me if I am wrong. As I too am looking for a chip.

A mate has had a Steinbauer fitted for around 7 months without any issues. He is very happy with the performance, especially when towing.

I am still undecided which performance chip to go with however the Steinbauer is at the top of my list at the moment. The chip it seems to have too many reported faults.

I have a Stein for 12 months mainly for towing the 2 tonne van. Very happy. Impressed with the take off from stationary. Can't compare other chips as I haven't any experience with them. Have had a issues at all with the stein.

Just spoke to steinbauer importer/tuner in Dalby QLD. They can program it and set it up to run off cruise control..

Well the folks at Steinbauer got back to me today. After to speaking to one of there tech's I've sent it down to them to have the peramaters changed so it can take the reference it needs from the turbo boost wire (or something like that). The bloke said it will make it work all the time from then on with the only down side being that initial low down talk will be a bit slower to come on. bit of a shame but the whole reason i bought it was for extra power/torque at cruising speeds so no big deal for me. Should have it back in a few days so I'll report my findings .

Is it a proper fix or the likes of the above? Quote taken from the Hilux forum.
