  • Dash Ilumination Hook Up - Wire Colour ?

    Hi Folks,

Connecting up the switch for ARB Compressor and wondering if anyone knows the wire colour\location for dash illumination in the 150's?

    Cheers,

Re: Dash Ilumination Hook Up - Wire Colour ?

Come on Guys, You're Hi-Jacking my post and this will result in it going off on tangents and me not getting the answer I am looking for.... If you have your own questions then star your own threads and you'll no doubt get your answers

Now to answer your questions - Then hopefully get this thread back on track...

rumy - The compressor is great and its my second, sold the first one with previous vehicle.

red - if it is the ARB one then you should not have any problem with even the weekest 12V hooking up to the acc. line of the loom that came with the kit, this is because all that signal does is switch over the relay that is in the engine bay. So if you are experiancing the comp. winding down shortly after starting up then i'd check the connection from the battery to the relay and perhaps try a new relay. Anyway best place for you to get 12Vacc is at the cig lighter socket in the center console.

Now - anyone know what wire(colour) behind dash is the dash ilumination one?

          Hi Gavin
I'm guessing you are putting the switch neat the low range selector? I don't know which wire it is but I would unplug the low range selector/centre diff lock or DAC and just use a simple test light while turning the lights on and off. You will find the wire coming into one of those for the lights and tap into it.

Re: Dash Ilumination Hook Up - Wire Colour ?

i'm also trying to work this one out, from the useful wire colours thread apparently it's a green wire. but i've got a switch with a couple of LEDs in it one for dash illumination and one for when it's switched on. i'm not sure if i can use the same neutral for both LEDs. might just have to go to an auto sparky...

Mate, just installed a compressor in my mates 150 the other day and we ended up putting the switch in the panel above right knee and took dash illumination from idle up switch which was the green wire in the plug and then just rigged the red yellow wire in ARB harness to 2nd battery so the compressor could be turned on even if the car was off let me know if you need a hand and ill post up a step by step thing if i can remember it mate

I was always told never to use a test light on a car with air bags, always use a multimeter instead. I think the theory is that a test light can trigger an airbag. Dunno how but I don't want to find out the hard way either
                Cheers

All airbag wiring has yellow connectors and has a slightly more difficult lock holding them together. Maybe if you go wildly poking around in there one might go off. Then again if you go wildly poking a test light in unknown connectors you kinda shouldn't be doing that sort of work.
