Nothing happened to the FJ... In fact I've almost finished the build up. You can follow it here:

Love the FJ and it's here to stay

Oh OK, I got confused by your For Sale thread, it said you were upgrading to a LC200.

I'm curious, what made you change from a Prado to an FJ?

Ah I see. Let me clear any confusion.

The FJ was purchased as a daily driver (it replaced a Corolla that we had). It was either that or a Toyota 86. I decided on the FJ for various reasons..... I never intended to buildup the FJ, in fact I was looking to flip it after a couple of years.... but after meeting the FJCC crew (awesome lot of people) and going on trips with them I quickly caved. I learnt heaps from the Prado build which made the FJ build so much easier. The FJ is a very capable vehicle. I have taken the FJ through so much more than i have the Prado. My Prado is a touring build so it didn't do that much offroading. As stated earlier in my build thread it was set up to get to where we usually camp/fish anytime during the year WITH EASE - and that it did.

The LC200 will be replacing the Prado as our touring vehicle (was sort of the plan to begin with). Though the FJ is capable, like the Prado it lacks towing grunt. LC200 ticks all the boxes for us that the FJ nor the Prado can satisfy.

Its bitter sweet but with the Prado gone I'll have a new toy to do up. Already have a DP Chip, rhino rack and black widow drawer system for it. Bring it on!!!

        • Yeah, I understand now. I had a look through your FJ build thread before coming back to PP and seeing this post. Do you still fit in car parks with all the mods on the FJ now? That was one reason for the change IIRC.

I have a lift and even with the Rhino Pioneer Platform and an awning hanging off the side I still get in the 2.1m clearance car parks.

Hope your LC200 treats you well!

Yep height restrictions was certainly a reason I couldn't drive the Prado into work anymore (I got relocated to the city). The Prado has a 2" lift with a pair of Thule Aerobars with a Rhino alloy tray on top. It did not fit into 2.1m car parks.

The FJ has a 2" lift, 285/70/17 tyres with RhinoRacks recently released rack mounting system called the "Backbone" plus a Tradesman Pioneer rack. With those height-adding mods it scrapes through 2.1m car parks with about 3cms to spare. That was with it weighed down with all the other stuff - cant imagine what would happen if i were to empty out the back...

            • Its a sad day today...... The Prado has been sold. Counting the days till the new owner comes with a bank cheque and takes it away...

On the upside 200 series here I come!!!!

Would just like to thank everyone at PradoPoint for the advice and support over the years.
