I'll have the bonnet protector (just because it happened to arrive last week), snorkel and diff breathers installed this week. I'm actually doing some research on a winch tonight, might get it done at the same time as the snorkel.

I'm also doing some research on a CF80... If feasible I'll be looking at a secondary power source (probably solar) as well as a new drawer system to suit... which would mean my current drawers will go on the market (Melbo would be happy about that ).

    Cheers
    Hi William,
lol, so, an apprentice position is vacant i suppose for the new designs to be built :-). Also, What happenned to the videos ( with the gopro HD) you told you will be putting up?

    • I was actually just going to sell you my current drawer if I decide to go the 80lt waeco lol.

Oh about that.... My pc is busted and I just don't have the time to fix it. That and it's a drag encoding HD content lol.

Nothing worth posting anyway. Waiting for some interesting things to happen this winter when the tracks get wet haha

          • It's from fishy71. No Doubt in that, The build photos itself shows the quality of the drawers.

              • The goodies are on! A bit dark to take photos so they'll have to wait till tomorrow. As per usual, a job well done by Western 4x4.

They extended the rear diff breather and left the front untouched as it was raised next to the fuse box. I paid for the piranha kit which has two breathers, seems like they've kept the mount as well as the second breather. I suppose that's the reason why they didn't charge me for the oil change in the rear diff. I got under the car with a torch just now and saw how they plumbed the rear diff breather. It was very and I mean VERY simple, it went right with the rear airlocker hose. I reckon it would have taken them no longer than 30 minutes to do, because I reckon I could have done it in that time without a hoist. Cant believe I paid them an hour and a half of labour for it. I guess that's the cost of inexperience!

As for the snorkel it looks BEEFY up close. I understand now when Zerosecta said the airtecs "hugged" the body better - I now agree. However, I still love the look of the Safari and the fact that I can turn the head so no regrets here Oh and I love the sound the turbo makes now - much more prevalent than it was before. A minor downside that I've picked up with the Safari is the wind noise on the driver's side has picked up a little (but bearable). I'm not sure if it's the Safari causing the noise or my driver's side whether shield that is now getting air passing over it from a different angle. Will investigate further...

Tonight's project is to get a healthy number of coats on the bonnet protector for fitment this weekend.

                Charmeleon...

On with the first coat ...

Fingers crossed that all goes well.. haven't spraypainted in a long while.

                Cheers

                  • Magnum (by Warn) 9,000lb winch...

Not too happy that they wired it up to the Amptech. I don't think the battery is designed for winching. Might either switch the battery to an optima or rewire it to the starter battery.

Also looking at installing an isolator switch as I don't like the fact that the winch can be operated when unattended. I've heard those stories of 4bys getting sliced up like cheese.
