Had the brackets replaced and new winch cradle installed about a week ago. Did a quick inspection prior to paying for the cradle and labour....bar was protruded forward by about 5-10mm, which was to be expected due to the cradle. Although it was was also displaced a similar amount to the left. Had the service manager inspect it who got the main mechanic to also look, he agreed that this could be rectified if I wanted. It gave the appearance that the bar had been scewed from a previous accident or an offroad nudge with an embankment.
Rebooked to rectify. Collected it on Friday arvo, extremely happy..perfect alignment, I made a point of telling/thanking them how good it now looks. I'm pleased I pointed out the misalignment when collecting on the first occasion and had them fix their initial instal.
Toyota seem to be reluctant to do the recall on my Prado. The service manager at my local dealer said that my VIN is not on the recall list and I need to call customer service. Customer service told me that there is no recall on the Prado! I assured them that there was and await a callback from them. Interestingly, when I rang parts and quoted part number PZQ296016ZBF they said that that was the Prado Sovereign bullbar mounting bracket recall kit part number that retails for $311.30.
Does anyone have a copy of the letter from Toyota and/or confirm the Toyota recall notice number for this recall is 0631H?

Peter,
Sure you didn't buy your Prado from suspicious looking individuals?
Or perhaps the previous owner had a Sovereign bullbar, did the recall, then sold it before putting it on the market?
According to my invoice part number PZQ296016ZBF is correct for the Sovereign bar mounting bracket kit. In the labour section of the invoice item number 99TO0631H2 is used for the warranty work, "Prado Genuine accessory bullbar bracket, customer service excercise refer:ZKCT-380".
Apparently, prior to my bullbar being fitted, my car was inspected at a Toyota dealer and the VIN was recorded as having the recall inspection done for the bullbar mount recall. Therefore Toyota won't cover the work under warranty since the VIN has been crossed off their recall list.
The lesson is not to buy a 120 Prado with a Sovereign bullbar unless the recall mounts have been fitted or a second hand Sovereign bullbar unless the new brackets, guard liners and chassis pins are included, or at least budget for them.

Once the recall is done the dealer will place a grey sticker inside the drivers door to indicate htat it has been done.
Yes that is true but in my case the recall work was for free but I was charged $3.00 for the sticker! I really don't see why they bothered charging for the sticker. They supplied and installed my winch cradle at the same time and only chraged parts.
2008 Diesel Prado with extra stuff added. I drive it on the road and other places too.

Finally received a call back from the "Toyota Customer Experience Centre" who confirmed that Toyota will not cover my brackets under warranty. At $311.30, the cost of the brackets isn't such an issue, it's having them fitted. Toyota quoted me $700 to fit the brackets and winch cradle, and then they'll probably stuff the job up and destroy the guard liners in the process. Oh, What a feeling!

I wish I was only paying for the winch cradle and a sticker! Come to think of it, there is no such sticker on my car. Is that a bullbar compliance sticker, or one to confirm the recall has been carried out?

Hi Peter,
I installed my bullbar with 1coolbanana's help in my dad's carport. I used cambuckle tie down straps to suspend the bullbar off the carport beams. It will be quite easy to do yourself. Let me know if you need the use of the carport

Actually, that grey sticker should not be placed inside the drivers door, it should be installed behind the bullbar between the LHS chassis mount and winch aperture, according to the installation instructions "Installation time : Approx. 5 minutes."

I bought one of those stickers today, part number PZQ296014CL PRADO BULLBAR RECALL DECAL, list price $3.52. Unfortunately they will only sell you one if you also buy part number PZQ96016ZBF MTG BRKT PRADO ALLOY for $311.30.
