Removing Second Row Seats

Can anyone help. I pick up my new 150 Kakadu next weekend from Sydney and will drive it back to Perth via Melbourne. No I'm going to the Grand Final - the Dockers arn't in it anyway. I am hoping to fit the 150 out over the next few months after the 4WD show in Perth in Nov. I have just completed a trip across the middle from Broome to Port Augusta via Talawana,CSR,Gunbarrel etc. in a hired 120 that had a draw system in the back and the fridge on a tilt slide. The trip was great ( 4 weeks of adventure including 7 days on the CSR and gunbarrel with no rear shocks - a bit like a trampoline). Anyway the chief of the house has indicated that the fridge on top of the drawers is a No No in the 150 (can't see into it). Therefore one solution is to take out the second row seats and put in a false floor and bingo - space for fridge. I know people have done this in the 120 but when I asked the people at Mosman Toyota they said the second row seats in 150 can't be removed? Can anyone enlighten me as to whether they speak with forked tounge? If the 2nd row can be removed is it easy? Any tricks to look out for. Some one suggested that there could be an alarm?
Would appreciate any advice - I'll even listen to people who follow collingwood!!!!!

Have a look at this link.http://www.toyota-tech.eu/legacy/Toy/ai ... 0899-4.pdf It is a Toyota website and it shows them removing the seats. Other alternative is to get a drop down fridge slide like "Platinum" make (I just made my own). It slides out then drops the fridge down 300mm from on top of the drawers. It works great and the missus can even get in there with ease.

Hi Ken

We have just finished our setup of the 150. We have put a Black Widow drawer system in the back, removed the third set of seats, and have put in our Platinum drop slide (taken out from the 90 series) for the fridge. If you aren't extremely mechanically talented as Lissted (I've admired his work on this site) then the $550.00 for the Platinum is well worth it. Our last Prado was a 90 series with drawers, and my wife (5'6") hated getting to the fridge until the Platinum.

We put ours on the drivers side as the Waeco lid is side opening to the door and we can then use the passenger side drawer as a table and to access our gear at roadside stops. People ask us about the best accessory we have fitted to our 4WD's and we agree that the drop down fridge slide for a touring 4WD is it. Ours is 2 years old and the only problem was a faulty lock which they replaced free of charge last month no questions asked.

As for removing the seats check with your Transit Authority as to the legality, it is quite easy to take out the second row, pull up the plastic covers and then there are 5 bolts per seat.
