  • Hi all,

I have a June 2012 D4D auto and have been told by Toyota here on the Gold Coast that my car has come from the factory with the most up-to date programming. I have asked them to check and confirm this for me and was assured that the would and did, but honestly don't believe it was even looked at.

I don't know that I have this horrid flat spot but the auto is definitely not "confident" with its gear selection...it often leaves me wondering if it knows what gear it wants. Is there any way I can fin out if the ECU is up to date? Or do I need to try another dealer, the opposition...

      • Sounds like you need to go to another dealer or send a PM to The Roo as he is up your way somewhere and I believe he has the diagnosis tool.

        • Hi all,

I have a 2010 d4d auto also with this issue at around 2400rpm, Toyota tell me that it'd cost me $130 for them just to look it, just after the opinion of others
Even though it's out of warranty do you think I should pay to have this issue sorted ?

          • Do you get it serviced by them? If so its part of the service to insure the latest software is installed and all recall work is carried out, maybe point this out to them...

Statutory warranty should apply, it's a known pre-existing issue and was present when it was under warranty. Have another chat with them and mention Fair Trading.

Also doesnt hurt to mention Australian Consumer Law - its no lemon law, but its a step in the right direction for consumers.

                • It should have been done as part of the standard servicing so they don't have a leg to stand on. I have found that attitude and helpfulness varies a lot between dealers.
