Why not print it out and go back to your Toyota dealer and say do this at your expense please. In the event that it works for you as it did for Gav you could then write to the NRMA or a newspaper, vent your displeasure at Toyotas initial poor response and point out the solution is available but Toyo is too slack to fix it.
I do not have the problem (yet) so I can't complain but I feel that if everyone who has the problem all wrote to NRMA RACV etc and told them of the fixes tried on PP we may embarrass Toyo enough to fix the ones that people own who do not know that PP exists.
Good luck and quiet motoring

I always thought the vibration could be fixed via the transmission. Any idea when this update came out? I have a 2012 model and last year was told all the computer systems were up to date. Maybe they were telling porkies like they did when they said they had rotated the tyres (tyre monitor told me otherwise)

Hi Ozimacca, For Info, it does make the vehicle quieter than before, but is it the final fix, hard to say. Fixing the air box vibrating like other members have mentioned could make it even quieter. I will get this looked at when I do my next service and see if it adds to the ambience. (nothing to lose, more to gain if it works), mine is way out of warranty so good luck expecting them to do this modification for free as nothing has failed in reality, just poor design. I would recommend this cheap mod, even it is not noisy or overpowering. Hope this helps

Hi Gavin,
Mine has 1500 klm on it so I have plenty of time for it to play up while still in warranty, if I have the problem I will print the fixes out and take them with me when I complain

After Toyota saying they can do no more after trying to solve the vibration noise with some modification to the air intake I was still not happy and once again contacted the Customer Care Line. Again they listen and I reported to them what I had read on this forum about the Update for the Transmission FirmWare but they had no information to this. They then rang me a day later asking for my vehicle to try another solution, the insulation under the right hand fender. This is now booked in this Friday so we will see if there is any improvement. If not, I will continue my complaint until the problem is resolved.

Hi. They had my vehicle all day placing that sound proofing to underneath the RH front Fender but unfortunately still no difference. i spoke to the service manager who came with me for a test drive after this proof coat was applied and even he was disappointed that it had not solved the problem. As the service manager himself said its almost like the noise from a manual that is in too higher gear and struggling under load. Mmmmm back to the drawing board.

Not sure what sound pads were used but was the ones recommended by Toyota but as reported with no success. I keep asking about this "transmission FirmWare Update" but Toyota knows nothing about it and said it may be a private modification. Would love to hear from the person that put that report on here to see were he got this info.
